Finch – Ink Lyrics 1 year ago
I've heard one meaning of this and this I accepted. It's talking about a Faustian bargain. Here's what I mean.

First verse is the entrance to make the deal. It's unsettling from the mountain top to the drop, by clinging to driftwood (crooked, snapped branches) and entering the "deep world." This entity speaks of something foreign and wants to give the listener a deal, to be in a new state of living.

Second verse is the effects of this deal. The listener gets this deals side effects. Symptoms are feeling bites like tarantulas' fangs are sinking into their body. There's a bathtub of blood and swollen eyelids are next. They're confused as this is what it seems.

Chorus is the second guessing before the deal and the precursor of what's to come. Hair stands up as it's already distrusting and the ant's are the train of thought, now running away with this force taken into the brain. The sip of epiphany is this new force, thinking it's enlightenment but it's truly blight.

Bridge is the results of living with the new thoughts and acceptance of this hell. One last lip bite as no more hesitation comes to them. They now see clearly, as the fog is gone from their mind. Their soul has entered in this new state (the mold mentioned) and will rest with this "epiphany" while living with it. The paper mentioned is their body and it spells their blood. It's not written but in a puddle under it. It's shows the former gone of this world into a new life.

To me, this bargain is not death but this rough road given to us, to show life is not simple but uneasy. This dark force is never meant to hurt but strengthen you to an epiphany of how uncomfortable life can be.

Anyway, that's mine. What do you think?
