Porcupine Tree – Black Dahlia Lyrics 3 years ago
I think it is about an addiction to drugs. When people get addicted to drugs, they tend to forget family and friends. They are only interested in getting their next fix.
This song seems to be referencing a person who uses many different drugs to escape reality. This drug addict has tried them all. 'The bullet passes through the cage inside you' could be about taking a pill and it passes through the stomach. 'You stole the thing you ever loved' probably is a reference to how people steal to have the money to buy the drug. ' So unfaithful' is probably a reference to loving the drug and not the people that love you. 'The drop is fatal' is probably a reference for the ending of this drug addicts life. As with other interpretations, i am just offering mine. I have had a drug problem before , and this is just how this song resonates to me. I will have to say it is one of the most beautiful melancholy songs I have ever heard.

Mad Season – River of Deceit Lyrics 5 years ago
My thought about this, beautiful yet sad, song will not be very long. The prophet could be anyone that tells us or advises us on what to do about a situation (i.e doctor, religious affiliation, people we know.

Or cut off my pride and buy some time' means is doing what is best for us or doing what makes us feels best, about vices we have. The burden of the lies in our head about our vices makes us make rash decisions that are sometimes not good for us.

The words , " I could either burn
"I could either drown
Or pull off my skin and swim to shore
Now I can grow a beautiful shell for all to see" This clause is about how we can pretend to be okay. We can die or we can put on a shell( mask) and go on living a lie about our feelings.

The song is deep, but I think it is clearly about addiction and how addiction takes over us, before we realize it. People see we are in trouble, and advise us to get help. We may want help, but we may not want it. The cycle of addiction is hard, it is difficult to give up something that you soon begin to need. It is no longer about getting high, it is about getting the drug everyday just to prevent withdrawals.

I am a former drug addict, and this is just my take on this song. I guess i feel the lyrics, but i could be very wrong.

Elton John – Come Down In Time Lyrics 6 years ago
@[auraj:26606] I wrote this early in the morning and read back over it. I need to put it in more simpler terms. Hehe

Seems like a lucid dream about someone you know or just met in the dream. You are strongly attracted to the person in the dream. The reason I think it is about a dream is because Night Jars are nocturnal and cutting the off the night lights symbolize going to sleep. "Come down in time "means hurry up to see me, before you wake up.Well, you woke up and may not see the person from the dream again..

a lucid dream, perhaps, about a person you are deeply attracted to in real life and would like to be engaged with them romantically in real or a lucid dream about someone you do not even know, but attracted to in the dream. The reason I think it is about a dream is because Night Jars birds are nocturnal. Also cutting out then night lights could be symbolizing going to sleep. 'Come down in time' is the person you see in the dream telling you to hurry before you wake up and miss her. Sadly, the person never got really talk to the person again..because they woke up. Playing with translation here, but trying to decipher anything a brilliant writer like Bernie Taupin put down on paper is difficult. I just know that this is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. The whole Album, Tumbleweed Connection' is perfection. Not many writers have accomplished with Bernie and Elton have. Thanks to them both.
