Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show – More Like the Movies Lyrics 1 year ago
I have always felt a close connection to these lyrics. I started reading Mills and Boon from an early age and loved the whole romantic love featured in them.
As I got older I realised life doesn't always turn out that way, which is emphasised in the chorus, 'I'm sorry when I kissed you, you only heard me whisper, you never got to hear those violins'.
Luckily for me, I did find my special person just before my 18th birthday, 45 years ago. He is not only quietly romantic in his own way, he also knows how important the more 'showy' side is to me too.
Even to carrying me over the threshold of our marital home. (I'll be honest it was more of an assisted lift, lol, but he wanted me to have that moment).
Sadly the female character in this song forgot to take ordinary life in to account. It can't all be high romance all the time.

Smokie – Living Next Door To Alice Lyrics 8 years ago
One of my favourites too. I like lyrics with a story. I don't usually think it's necessary to pull them apart like a novel at a book club, sometimes it's just about escapism and reading what you like into it.

However, I'm glad the earlier poster realised that Alice couldn't be dead as she walked out head held high, lol.

As for no sympathy for someone who hasn't 'made a move' in 24 years. I'm guessing that if you grew up as children and became friends it is hard to risk that in case she doesn't feel the same and you lose the friendship as well.

Ok, so that's enough psychoanalysing ;o) let's just enjoy the song.

Finally to Chubby Brown and all you other infantile idiots who are probably still sniggering at 'rude words' - GROW UP!
