@[deegee87:45099] Best interpretation of Stevie Nicks's "Landslide" that I will ever read! I couldn't agree with you more, and I'm not a Mom. I'm just a dude who writes lyrics, and ... Oh yeah, I used to write for a trade paper for the Music Industry.

Todd Rundgren – A Dream Goes On Forever Lyrics 1 year ago
I write lyrics myself and love to read and analyze great Rock & Pop songs and guess at the writers intent. I used to write for a music magazine years ago too. So for what it's worth, here's my humble opinion. I believe without question that Todd is writing about someone he loved very much that has passed away. The most obvious indicator that a loved one has died is the lyric: "But that doesn't get me through a sea of tears, over life's biggest tragedy." Death is lifes biggest tragedy. One could argue that it's about the death of a love relationship. A valid point, but I think Todd is being more specific than that. There's the line: "I guess I believe that I'll see you one day, for without it there is no dream." To me that implies that they're going to be re-united in a better place. Finally, the opening piano & organ chords mirror the music of a graduation ceremony. Lyrically and Musically, It's a brilliant composition.

The Rolling Stones – Gimme Shelter Lyrics 7 years ago
WELL...jsper wrote that the song: "Gimme Shelter" was partly written about the violence and murder that occurred at the Altamont Concert....BUT here's the FACTS ....The SONG "Gimme Shelter" was written and recorded for the "Let It Bleed" album in early 1969, BEFORE the Altamont Speedway Concert ever occurred! The Altamont concert didn't happen until December of 1969. After THAT, the documentary film about this Altamont concert, and the murder that took place there, was ALSO called "Gimme Shelter." That film was released in 1970. It IS ironic that the song: "Gimme Shelter" actually mentions murder in the lyrics, and then a murder actually happened at the concert. That murder was committed by one of Hell's Angel, who was working as "Security" at the show. The man who was killed was named: Meredith Hunter.

The Rolling Stones – Wild Horses Lyrics 7 years ago
'Wild Horses" is likely the most emotional and sensitive song that the Rolling Stones ever wrote and recorded. And...As beautiful as it is, I believe that the cover version of "Wild Horses" as recorded by THE SUNDAY's is actually even better than the original!! I know some people would say that's sacrilege! BUT....It's the echo sound of the guitars, and the gorgeous female vocals in The Sunday's version of "Wild Horses" that elevates it above the rest to me! HEY...Don't get me wrong...this is a rare case indeed! I cannot imagine anyone doing a better version of: "Gimme Shelter" or just about any other Stones song.
Do yourself a favor tho, you've gotta hear The Sunday's doing "Wild Horses." I think even Mick himself would approve!

Kankakurou!! BAHAHHAHAHAAA!! Justin Timberlake wrote "Wild Horses??" OMG. THAT'S a great bit of comedy! That's like saying Michael Jackson wrote: "Stairway to Heaven!" A statement that's SO ridiculous it almost makes me Puke!!

The Rolling Stones wrote it, and the original version of a song is often the best....BUT....in this particular case, I've gotta give it to THE SUNDAY'S instead!!! It's the haunting sound of her voice, and the beautiful echo effect in the guitar playing! I just think this is a superior version of an already beautiful song. Congratulations to The Sunday's for making a great classic song even better than the original!

The Beatles – Martha My Dear Lyrics 7 years ago
I agree with anadina on this one, for all the reasons that anadina listed in her interpretation of "Martha My Dear." Paul's sheepdog's name was indeed Martha, but I don't believe he wrote such a sweet, melancholy sounding melody about a dog! No. I believe this song was about Jane Asher too. Paul had written many songs about Jane when they were a couple. "Here, There and Everywhere" was one of them. Jane had broken up with Paul when she found him with another woman.

@[anadina:18801] Very interesting thought! you have there! I'm inclined to agree with you! Although Paul actually did own a Sheepdog named Martha, the somewhat melancholy sound of the melody always made me feel that this song was really written about a woman he knew. Jane Asher makes sense.

@[deegee87:18790] Wow. Beautiful interpretation of a beautiful song. Stevie Nicks was really young when she wrote "Landslide." I believe she was just in her early 20's, but she was clearly very wise for her years. Fleetwood Mac were really a powerhouse rock band. In their 1970's heyday, they had 5 amazing musicians in that band. Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie were both such great singer-songwriters, and really lovely women as well.

Others on here have written that this song is all about "Friendship." A guy having this girl as a friend, and then he realizes he wants her to be his "Steady Girlfriend." I respectfully disagree. I feel that the relationship is further along than that. I feel that the guy is already dating the girl for awhile, but then he realizes that what he really wants is TO MARRY THIS GIRL!. That's what I think these lyrics mean:: "It's time to bring this ship into the shore, and throw away the oars FOREVER!"

Glee Cast – Can't Fight this Feeling (REO Speedwagon cover) Lyrics 7 years ago
I know everyone else thinks this song is just about "Friendship." Others here have written that it's about a guy who wants to turn a female "FRIEND" into his steady Girlfriend, and BEGIN to date her. Hmmn....I have always felt that their relationship is a bit further along than that. I feel that this song is about a guy who has already been with this Girlfriend for awhile now, but he realizes that what he really wants IS TO MARRY HER!!! Thus, the lyric: "It's time to bring this ship into the shore, and throw away the oars FOREVER! (He said FOREVER.)
