| I think this song about WWII and when germany invaded Russia. And when the german soldiers we ill-equipped for the winter they sought out shelter in the random homes across the fields in Russia. And when they happenstanced across a home that was still occupied the people said no quarters and blew them away like they deserved to be. Then other soldiers herd about it and decided to freeze rather than trying to get shelter. It has a dark undertone and reminds me of WWII. Not unlike another Zep song that mentions hedgerows. Seems more likely the writer would refer to WWII as opposed to Vikings. The whole Vikings thing and Lord of the Rings are far fetched I believe. | |

| I believe in God. And I think one reason He invented Humans and gave us a conscience was to see what we would do with it. And of course one thing we did was create music. And to me this song is our answer to God and our way of pleasing him. It comments on love, nature, the ocean, our senses, our ability to communicate, our ability to write poetry, our ability to observe nature and our ability to create instruments and play them so very beautifully. This group of musicians and poets have created a song that God himself would be so very proud of. Its allegory, poetic prose, its comments on love and nature: truly an answer to God from humans saying Thank You for our consciousness, thank You for our God given talents, and thank You for the marvelous Earth we live on and our five senses. On a personal note this song reminds me of a high school girl I fell in love with one evening while we spent time together in front of the turntable. Listening to this album and enjoying each other so very much. We were years ahead of our time and didnt realize it then. Our intelligence and ability to communicate was awesome. I miss her. Time goes by so quickly for us humans where as God's time crawls comparatively speaking. One day in our lives is merely seconds to him. And our lives flash by where His is for all eternity. | |

Such simple explanations here- I will elaborate with my opinion: Gambling is an Addiction. When someone starts to win their ego takes over. They think they can beat the house and win it all. Sadly the addiction becomes exacerbating, taking all their money, and sometimes their will to live. Like doing speed, in the beginning it is exciting and breathtaking; but once the high is over the come down is harsh and abrupt. The gambler has lost all their money and have nothing left even to get a drink or something to eat. The casino could now care less about them as they have nothing left to offer the casino, so they spit them out like trash. Same thing with drugs; it's great while the rush is on, but all you are left with is a broke pocket and headache. Gambling and drugs are satans way to destroy peoples minds and leave them useless and withering away in pain. Put on God's Armor and these issues will not affect you. Do not let selfish, self satisfying habits consume you to the point of death. The punishment for sin is death. Satan loves sin as he loves death, destruction and despair. Control yourself and control you life for eternal life awaits the faithful and those that serve the Lord. God bless all who read this and to each of you, go to church. |

| I can picture running a black and white video of the Nazis in a Blitzkrieg coming across a European town and terrorizing the people and killing everything in sight with this song playing in the background. The song is too creepy and its easy to picture death and doom in my mind. I would also comment that they were probably tripping hard when they conjured up this one. Zeppelin has not gotten the credit they deserve from critics and I miss them a lot. Although Coda is one of the worst albums I have ever heard. There is a new band that sounds kinds like them - Gretta Van Fleet. Check em out. Kinda like a mixture between Zepp and Kansas, pretty good. God bless. | |

"Nashville with a tan" probably refers to Nashville being for music like LA is for music and entertainment, but Nashville folks don't get a lot of sun and are often pale, whereas people in LA are often tan, and have tanned skin. What I want to know is Who the song may be referring to? I was thinking maybe Drew Barrymore for some reason? |
