The Maccabees – Latchmere Lyrics 1 year ago
Stay in your lanes - metaphor for restrictive rules of society.

No bombing and no heavy petting. Don’t get violent or sexual.

Veruca socks - metaphor for condoms?

Madames and monsters return to your cubicles. You kids have been getting too frisky. Get back to your rooms.

Latchmere’s got a wave machine. Maybe the wave machine will shake things up.

Maybe the whole thing is a metaphor for puberty/adolescence. Maybe the wave machine is the hormonal changes that will shake up the strict rules of childhood.

@[Shroomyjoe:15433] He's father died when he was 6. He left it in the showers. The plural suggests somewhere public. The school showers perhaps? They are very sad memories. I think of the waste of an unhappy childhood.
