Bob Dylan – The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll Lyrics 5 years ago
@[Leviathan1:30844] Those who “philosophize disgrace” might be people who speak abstractly about social issues from a distance, but don’t get involved with the pain and “fears” of real people. Once the full story is told and it is plain that justice was not served because of the system, “now is the time for your tears.” It’s an invitation to get involved, to feel the pain of real people, and then be part of the struggle to change things.

Bob Dylan – Shelter from the Storm Lyrics 8 years ago
Shelter from the Storm by Bob Dylan In the Bible, Sophia, or Holy Wisdom is the feminine face of God. Sophia helps God create the world by bringing order and beauty to creation. Perhaps the "she" in this song is Sophia. Another possible candidate is Saint Mary Magdalene who had a very close friendship with Jesus and who was the first person to witness and understand his resurrection. The lyrics, "In a little hilltop village they gambled for my clothes" can only refer to Jesus. "She" in the song brings protection, comfort, love, tenderness, beauty. She stands in contrast to the violence, suffering, fear, betrayal, and general yuckiness that the protagonist has endured. She seems to be clothed in light and to come from a place where none of the wickedness of this fallen world can touch her. At the same time she seems to be quite approachable to the protagonist. She seems to be the source of infinite comfort. My guess is that she is a divine being.
