@[Brieannalewis9:2717] I don't think you are wrong. I had a relationship exactly like this, except the physical abuse -if that was implied at all. Yeah the last verse is so beautiful and the beauty exemplifies the tragedy, if anything. Could totally relate. And although I am still shamed, might I say what a ride it was. For a long time, I did not talk about the worst aspects of that relationship with anyone, out of shame. When a man finds himself in this kind of situation, it is without exception and without any reservation, solely due to his "weakness". Anyway, I finally talked to my sister one day. She later sent me this song. I am not normally so much in to Hozier's kind of music and had not heard of him. My first thoughts upon hearing it were: "Wow! This guy knows how it feels better than I do myself !" "I wonder whether he experienced it too" "What strength it must take to get past all of that and lay down so beautifully, the most tender detail of all that?" Anyway, beautiful song -mostly for the lyrics. You are on to it. :) |
