I think the video backs up the song. And I just got broken, broken into two..... In the video Chris Martin is both the good and bad guy. I think the bad guy is who he really is or really feels he is deep down, and the good guy is who he wishes he really was. In the end, he just could not live up to her. |

This song is about a guy who loved a girl so much he would never leave her. But their relationship imploded in spectacular fashion. She could not see it. She could not accept his love. Not because she didn't want to. Not because she was even aware of what she was doing. Not because she did not love him. Because she could not LET LOVE IN!!! But he loved her so much he refused to give up on her. Still she could not see it and he feels wasted and rejected now and he is terribly hurt and pissed. He told her to be patient, balanced, and kind. He told her what he needed. She told him she could give that....and once upon a time she did....when love was new. However, once it became real she choked. She could not give or receive what was happening between them. Not because she did not love him...but because she could not handle it. She still showed love in many ways...but it is the small ones that matter...the little things that let someone know you care. But she choked and was afraid to expose herself. He knows she loves him....that is why he still hangs on....he is being patient, and balanced and kind. However, sometimes love is not enough. He was not getting what he needed. So he went to someone else to find that. Not to hurt her, but because he so desperately needed what she was not giving him. But he still loved her...and he still had hope. In doing so he caused her tremendous pain. And she cannot get passed that. She continues to vilify him for what he has done...and he is at the end of all her lines. In her mind she is hurt because she thought she was giving it her all....when really she wasn't. She was not giving him what he needed. Not because she didn't care, not because she did not love....she just would not let love in and he was LOVING HER TO MUCH!!! Who will love her, who will fight, who will give up loving this impossible girl???? I know this because I am her. I never meant to be. I said I would be patient, balanced, and kind. And I thought I was, but I wasn't. I was to scared to let it in. In doing so I betrayed him, and he betrayed me in return. Betrayal brings betrayal. It is only in the aftermath that I have become able to see this. And I have incredibly hurt the one person and one thing I loved the most. |

| Very very true! When I was pregnant on my way to work I would cry like mad. His scientist had taken over and become mad and only got worse later. While I admit I am a bad communicator and bad showing my feelings they were always there. But Mr. Jekyll literally became Dr. Hyde. I wish for the beginning to but know I can never go back.
