This song is about taking accountability for yourself and not trying to pass it off on people who you ask for help. |

There are a few different topics going through the song. Pain and pure hatred: "Well if you told me you were drowning, I would not lend a hand" Deceit: "I've seen your face before my friend, but I don't know if you know who I am Well I was there and I saw what you did, I saw it with my own two eyes So you can wipe off that grin, I know where you've been It's all been a pack of lies" Betrayal: "Well I remember, I remember, don't worry, how could I ever forget It's the first time, the last time we ever met But I know the reason why you keep your silence up, oh no you don't fool me Well the hurt doesn't show, but the pain still grows It's no stranger to you and me" The fact that he himself says he doesn't know what the song about opens it up to a whole bunch of personal interpretations. Ultimately for me: I think in the back of our mind, we know the betrayal is going to come. It's human nature, and we all do it. But when it's betrayal from a loved one, platonic or otherwise, the pain is even more intense. And then you start looking back and you see the signs. Everything that was there. And we circle back to the "I've been waiting for this moment all my life". All the signs were there that this betrayal would happen, and now it has. |

I think the song is about accepting he did something that hurt someone and and it lays heavy on his heart. But he needs to embrace what he did and accept that it changed things and move past it. He knows what he did, and he knows he hurt someone. And he can't take it back. It's not forgiveness he's asking for. He's asking to move on. |
