Diablo Swing Orchestra – Bedlam Sticks Lyrics | 9 years ago |
This is about the Bedlam Asylum in London where the insane would be put on display for the public to be laughed at and mocked. More specifically, this song is about the nature of humans to commit and enjoy suffering upon others. |
Anathema – The Storm Before The Calm Lyrics | 10 years ago |
You can break this song into two parts. The first part is the storm, and the second part is the calm. The song starts with warming words, but they are sung very chaotically. The first part of the song is filled with desyncopation and anxiety, frequently not finishing lines, and a sort of monotony to the words. Then, the anxiety and chaos is increased through a wall of white noise. It climaxes, and then the song completely changes tone. The second half of the song is relaxed and peaceful, but still energetic. The singer completes each line, the song slows down, and a calming piano. Everyone is going to have a different meaning for this poem, but i can tell from personal experience that this song perfectly describes what it feels like to survive a suicide attempt. The anxiety, everyone telling you "don't worry, it will be ok" but they all sound the same. The drum pounds feel like a pounding heartbeat. And then comes the wall. The wall of noise not only represents the feeling of the world crashing down on you and overwhelming you, it also makes you feel it, and it hurts. Here is where the split comes. I think the split represents the action, probably suicide. Then comes the calm. For me this is the feeling i got when i woke up in a hospital bed. Life opens up a little and you can breath for a moment. Im sure though that other people might interpret this calm as dieing, and that makes alot of sense too. |
Insomnium – Ephemeral Lyrics | 10 years ago |
It's about how no matter how hard life gets, no matter how many hardships and tragedies you face, life never loses the value you give it. |
