Taylor Swift – Wildest Dreams Lyrics 8 years ago
It definitely IS inspired by Lana Del Rey, you don't have to be a genius to notice that the obvious music of the chorus is just like Lana's "Without You". It's been personalized perfectly anyhow, lyrics are worth listening to -unlike most other tracks of 1989- and I guess it doesn't really matter if it's inspired by another artist... Taylor's recently been trying pop and let's hope she'll get better and find her genuine style of pop... Anyway I say it again, I liked the lyrics and I liked how she's made her own version of a Del Rey's method.

You Emos seriously have the best taste in your clothing! There were a bunch of emo kids in the middle school I used to study in, and their shoes, bracelets and stuff were so gothically amazing!
Lyrics were also superb, wish I could hear them...

Agnes Obel – The Curse Lyrics 9 years ago
Never mind, I found something... First of all I must say these lyrics are wrong. I submitted the lyrics I thought were the correct one! And now for the meaning, Agnes Obel had had an interview with Best Fit, and about The Curse they have said:

Best Fit: This is one of the more story-led tracks on the album…

Agnes Obel: I think it was a song that asked for the story. I felt like there was a story there as soon as I started writing it. The first thing that came out was “And the people…”, [This is why these lyrics are not correct] it just sort of came out. And I just knew that it was something that was outside of me. I was reading two books at the time and maybe that had something to do with it. One of them was a book about how we think and how we construct meaning and memory and the author has a great way of describing how we construct our own stories. We apply so much symbolic meaning to things. Humans do that all the time, it’s like the curse of being a human but also a blessing because a lot of beautiful things come out of it. We put meaning into random things. [She calls this process 'The Curse'] The other book was a diary and the author was standing between the old world and the new world and he was rationalising the meaning of the new world and longing for the meaning of the old world. But with the curse of modern life. So it was just what I had in my mind at the time.

So, I think that makes sense. I really adore the composition of the instruments in this song: You can hear cello, blended perfectly into piano. Magical.

You know, I haven't listened to this song yet, I just read the lyrics. But I really feel something so strong and assertive in it I can't help but looking for it in the internet. Lyrics were totally awesome and I hope the music will be so too.

Bob Dylan – North Country Blues Lyrics 9 years ago
It's not that hard to realize it's written from the perspective of a woman. Just look at the verse when he sings "I quit in the Spring to marry John Thomas, a miner..." And of course Dylan himself can't marry a guy. This song is so well-written and has a loving blue melody which always captures me.

@[justranting:1464] Yeah that could fit well, but the line which talks about the wrinkles of our hands and our hair growing grey, is quite nonsense about God... Anyway I agree, it's properly right on God's point of view!

Anti-Heros – Smash A Window Lyrics 9 years ago
It's kind of the same thing for me here... just like you, I like the first exciting days of a new school term and then everything gets boring again!
To be honest, I can relate to much of your posts as journal entries, like the one you talked about being an average... I'm sick of being an average. I hate it. I always make useless efforts not to be an average and it works well for maybe a week, but then again I fall into this routine cycle of being tired, a put-offer, and URGHHH it's just so frustrating...

Agnes Obel – Dorian Lyrics 9 years ago
Well I really loved this song without even knowing what it's bout! It has got such a soft melody and Agnes' voice is so soothing and lovely. Without having a clear understanding of the idea of song, it always caused some visions of light blue and white in front of my eyes, and a feeling of floating in the air, while feeling some sort of power, seamlessly flowing in my vessels... It's hard to explain but it's so vivid I can remember it clearly anytime I think of it.

So I did some search about the song. Agnes talked about it in an interview:

"Best Fit: Who or what is ‘Dorian’ about?

Agnes Obel: ‘Dorian’ is about the inter-relational thing between two people, that you can’t put words on but you know is there. And when you reach the point of no return, and you are sort of swaying, or are suspended, into this weird space of nothingness, and you are still longing for all the good stuff that you had before. ‘Dorian’ is sort of my construction of that state of mind. Nobody outside this bubble of these two people can see it, [They won't know who we are,
So we both can pretend] so it looks really pretty and great but then if you step into this ring, you see that it’s all sort of falling apart and rotting [And the pieces broke and the people wanted more]."

And in some other interview:

"I really wanted to paint a picture of something that from outside is beautiful and from inside rots [The inside out on the open, with the straightest face]."

And even more:

"It is a song that expresses a lot of yearning [Swaying like the children, singled out for praise], for something beautiful that two people once had but that is now coming apart."

An somewhere else, about if this song's related to Dorian Grey:

"I knew about Dorian Gray but it was not deliberate or about that character. I am sure it coloured it but it wasn’t about it."

So, I guess that's all... and oops, I didn't expect it to be this long! Anyway it's a beautiful song that can also cause other interpretations for every individual, beside the main meaning which it's written to express. :)

"Rocking horse people eat marshmallow pies"? God, that drug he was on must have been so powerful! But if they're embarrassed of where the song is inspired from -the drugs- they wouldn't have released it, would they? Maybe a drawing set off the images, and some drugs made it more surreal...

Taylor Swift – Shake It Off Lyrics 9 years ago
So, yeah, why didn't you say "And losers are also gonna lose, lose, lose, lose, lose" and Taylor's still gonna shake, shake, shake? I honestly like Taylor - at least I don't hate her that much - but I totally get bothered with this line saying:

"Hey, hey, hey, just think while you've been getting down and out about the liars and dirty, dirty cheats in the world you could have been getting down to this
sick beat!"

There's not only shaking in life. You can shake anytime. Everybody can shake... It's also good to notice others beside shaking.

Idina Menzel – Let It Go Lyrics 10 years ago
I don't think of this song as an evil one, how can you think so? Elsa really differs from Jafar, she wasn't as cruel as him. I just love the part when she says "I'm not going back, the past is in the past" which means we don't have be to be trapped into the past, because it's gone, and the best thing to do is to try to make a new and happy life.
I guess you're taking it too hard: Monarchy? True creators?! Come on, it's only an animation for kids - and also teens, and adults who still enjoy being a child - and it has many beautiful things to say, such as when you look at obstacles with distance and logic, you realize that they are small and can easily be controlled and removed, and you shouldn't be afraid of them. (It's funny how some distance, makes everything seem small, and the fears that once controlled me, can't get to me at all...)

Susan Boyle – I Dreamed a Dream Lyrics 10 years ago
I really wonder how no one has commented on such a good song! Well, to me this song is just like a requiem for all of the dreams that are gone and wasted. It really hurts when you realize you have give up your dreams because of bad circumstance or something else, because a piece of your heart goes away with that dream too... and that will bother you 'til the end of your life.

The Beatles – Maxwell's Silver Hammer Lyrics 10 years ago
McCartney: "my analogy for when something goes wrong out of the blue, as it so often does, as I was beginning to find out at that time in my life. I wanted something symbolic of that, so to me it was some fictitious character called Maxwell with a silver hammer. I don't know why it was silver, it just sounded better than Maxwell's hammer. It was needed for scanning. We still use that expression now when something unexpected happens."

You know, If he really meant what he said on this song, he couldn't do it better!

Taylor Swift – Safe and Sound Lyrics 10 years ago
I had a period of time on last month, and I can probably say that was the worst moments of my life. Just feeling like I'm lost, gone, and even dead. I truly can say this song saved me. though I didn't have anyone to sing it for me, I sang it to myself, and I figured out there are times in our lives that no one is around us, but we still are not alone because we always have ourselves.

"Don't you dare look out your window,
Darling, everything's on fire...
the war outside our door keeps raging on..."

This song was like a warm, protecting hug to me.

Coldplay – Fix You Lyrics 10 years ago
Once I was so mad because I suddenly realized that I'm growing up! And I'll be soon on the grown-up people's world, and that really scared me... I text one of my best friends and said "please sing me Fix You" and she did so, then she asked me to say what has happened to me. That was one of our best chats ever, and after that I felt totally healed. Now anytime I listen to this song, it reminds me that day. :)

ABBA – Our Last Summer Lyrics 10 years ago
It's so amazing. :) the song is about a couple who are probably now apart for some reason, & they remind their last beautiful summer they spent with each other in Paris. Though they were so happy then, they were slightly afraid of losing each other, of losing these beautiful days. [as she says: But underneath, we had a fear of flying, of growing old, a fear of slowly dieing...]
And now that they're apart, the man has became a bank clerk with his pretty typical family with another woman, And the girl still recalls the last summer they had...
the way she sings this song really impresses me. It's pretty hard to put a complete trip into a song with beautiful details; like "In the tourist jam, round the Notre Dame" or "Morning croissants". You will really understand how does it feel to cross the streets which you've crossed someday with your love, alone. :)

You know, this song is extremely simple and it really hasn't got anything special, but I don't know why, it IS so unique!
