Deanna Carter – Strawberry Wine Lyrics 6 years ago
Few songs are better-written than this one. Very human, very touching. I know a 22-year-old girl who thinks this is the best song ever. It's nice when the old music can touch the new generation.

The Who – Another Tricky Day Lyrics 6 years ago
When I had my computer set up to play an mp3 for an alarm in the morning, this is one of the songs I would use. Every day is potentially another tricky day for you.

I get that out of it too. "You irritate me, my friend."

Phil Collins – I Don't Care Anymore Lyrics 6 years ago
One thing that I haven't seen anybody else comment about -- and the main thing that makes this song so special to me -- is the irony of saying "I don't care anymore" over and over to someone. You don't care anymore? Then why are you even talking to her? "You hear? I don't care anymore! Are you listening? I don't care no more!" Sounds like he does care, which is part of the heartbreak and agony of losing someone you love. "Get out of my way, let me by" -- she is long gone, but her memory is in his head and still getting in his way. A friend of mine from high school always liked another Phil Collins song, "Against All Odds," because of the line, "I wish I could just make you turn around/turn around and see me cry." That line always struck me as obvious, pedestrian, and undignified. This song says it much better, and the music and vocals support the lyrics so well . . .

I'm sorry, but I've listened to that line about 10 times in a row now, and I'm hearing "down." Regardless of the meaning, I've never heard anybody pronounce "damn" like that.
