Okay he's kinda comparing himself to the big bang theory and that his knowledge and understanding of human nature and all sorts of social implements/conundrums is ever expanding. Marriage, Religion, Military, War. textbook magnificently crude is in reference to the lines before about the bride... how as soon as the couple get married she is already getting less attractive. He really focuses on how much of a pundit and critic of mankind he is in this song. A lot of his earlier stuff covers all these whole life and time encompassing topics. Also in the chorus he's kinda joking about knowing his mission and how he's gona be a good soldier and shine w this little light of mine. But he also expresses that he doesnt even have a choice in the matter: " i wanna be a big bang, gotta be. never bottle me up in a probably, i wanna see a yes sir, sir. yes sir. thorn with a torn core, soar to the bone; warn the other brothers i was born forlorn. big bang. shoveling a big dig, huddle in a tunnel of big dreams, i think big things. i'ma burn with this little light of mine and a prime concern to earn thanks. i'ma be a big bang. big bang. big, big bang. it's getting bigger by the second, check it. in saying hes warning the other brothers forlorn, hes explaining why he kicks knowledge. So we also know the futility of mankind, why hes obligated to teach/rap, whatevs. And when he says its getting bigger by the second he's referring to the universe, constantly expanding. At the begginning when he says he says hes grown spiritually since the last time we met hes making fun of god as if he were simply the universe or in a measurable scientific quantified way paired w the word spiritually, something abstract and unmeasureable. HERES ONE OF MY FAVORITE LINES: if i made an angel in the snow for every rotting victim, there'd be wings to float this mothership up out the goblin system. AND ALSO: cauterize the wounds and head's like gimme gimme something major. roadside prophetic ascend well, enveloped in a mummy ribbon system, blistering in a wishing well.

i think it just acknowledges the fact that its real easy for rockstars to have lofty ambitions of making the world a better place but they dont understand how it is for the man who is down and out and angry having to slave his life away at some bs job. All the implements of control are in place. The rich are rich, poor poor, any idealistic hopes of changing this are ridiculous, therefore although you may believe it, only a fool would say it like as if it were a real possibility. i respect the other reply. knowing your a fool to do a deed that could ruin ur life, but the implements of society (a mideval game) leave you knowing that the only way to come up is to do the dirt. this is right on. However i also look at this song as metaphor for life as a musician, like being a famous musician is a super highway... His life is the one who writes the tired sea song. It's a blessing, but also kind of a curse- so he remains tied to the mast, on a wild ride that is his life, but all his monetary fears are gone (the danger has passed) and this crazy life is his home. super good job of tying his own life and homer's into one, one epic life, and it is home.

yeah but this fling is song filler for the deeper meaning... He's Got the News like as in I Knows whats up, the way things are. Like A Prophet. And you dont care about much else, except for an occasional great time... did i say occasional. nightly might be more appropriate. The title of the song is the message, like listen here. EXTRA EXTRA Im the shit. sounds arrogant but trust me on this one. also references his knowledge as a super highway in Home At Last and he's the chosen one to know what he knows. He talks about the band gets to bendin his ear like as in when he hears other artists talking to him... |

Bradley from Sublime covered this in an acoustic version. In my opinion Dr. Wu is a metaphor for the inspiration and high you get from drugs and your led to believe you know things to be true like never before... and it can happen to ordinary people, feeling so above the rest of society. Are you with me? But then the high goes away leaving a shadow of who he truly thot DrWu stood for. he never attains it again but by then his chick is into the inspired high. idk some drug stuff like that. classic |
