Joseph Arthur – In The Sun Lyrics 11 years ago
The first time i heard this song was on a cold night a week or so before Christmas. I had the TV on and had fallen asleep. Austin City Limits was on and this song was being performed by Coldplay with Micheal Stipe as a guest. I woke up to their version and what a beautiful song to wake up to on a lonely Winter night. I recorded it the next night it was on ACL. I can listen to it over and over.

Anyway i think there are religious overtones. perhaps the narrator is saying he believes in God, but doesnt believe in organized religion. "I will find my own way"
I think the Sun is a metaphor for Heaven.

As for it being a relationship song, there is anpther character in the song and a lot of mystery as to who that person is. Perhaps wishing an ex-lover all the best or possibly an ex-lover who is deceased????

Bruce Springsteen – The Promise Lyrics 11 years ago
I know Bruce isnt gay or bi or anything like that, but i think the part about getting drunk and telling a secret that should have been kept to himself is that the charcater in the song is gay or had a gay affair. Of course it could be something else like he robbed a store or bank or killed somebody. The gay theme just seems to fit the song more.

Wishbone Ash – Engine Overheat Lyrics 11 years ago
This song is from the LP "Twin Barrels Burnin" circa mid to late 1980s. W.A. made a turn from a more laid back progressive sound to flat out hard rock (almost heavy metal).
Just a stright ahead rock song about a girl who makes a guy hot after her. My brothers classic rock cover band covered it and the crowd would go crazy even though nobody had likely ever heard it. 100 times better than anything Aerosmith did in the late 80s.

Linda Ronstadt – Mr. Radio Lyrics 11 years ago
The song written by Roderick Falconer is about rural America circa the 1940s/1950's when having a radio was your only entertainment and way of finding out what was going on in the outside world. Times were more innocent and less complicated then.

The Strawbs – Grace Darling Lyrics 11 years ago
The boys choir in the background of this song gives this song etheral feel..
Not sure if true or legend, but it is about Grace Darling, a lighthouse keepers daughter who risk her own life to row out to a ship wreck and save as many sailor's lives as possible during a storm.

One of the members of the band looked out a hotel window while they were on tour and saw a stsue of an Angel and that inspired this brilliant song. Read about it in liner notes of a CD.

Bruce Springsteen – Radio Nowhere Lyrics 11 years ago
Its definitely about the state of radio nowadays. Bruce was a mainstay on AOR radio back in the day. (Album Oriented Rock) Independent radio stations that played a "mish-mash" of styles of rock. Very experimental. It was the 70's and 80's alternative to mindless pop radio. Disc jockeys were even given leeway to play stuff from their own collections. It wasnt corporate based radio.

Anyway Bruce is saying we have the technolgy to receive radio from a satelite now, but there is still nothing worth listening to. Satelite radio is mostly genre based, so it is probably a statement against that too.

Bruce Springsteen – Last to Die Lyrics 11 years ago
I never read the lyrics, but i always thought it was an anti death penalty song. I just got a picture in my head of somebody driving west since Truth or Consequences is a town in New Mexico. Driving west to escape something. I can agree that it is probably an anti Iraq War song.
