Tricky – Taxi (White Boy) Lyrics 10 years ago
i think this is about racial discrimination. little things like getting a taxi is easier when your white or with a white person. anyway thats just my take.

Animal Collective – Monkey Riches Lyrics 10 years ago
to me this song is about obtaining the "american dream" or questioning why we want to achieve this american dream and why we feed our economic system (making a monkey rich?)

Ben E. King – Spanish Harlem Lyrics 10 years ago
i just thought i'd leave this here even though its not very hard to decipher this songs meaning. the "rose in spanish harlem" is actually a beautiful woman located in east harlem, manhattan new york. he then sings about how this woman makes him feel and that he would love to have her in his life by picking that rose and planting her in his garden.

Jo Stafford – No Other Love Lyrics 11 years ago
this is such a romantic song, i can only hope to ever feel a love like this. as for the meaning of the song i think its pretty straight forward, the love she describes is a love that lives and dies only once.

The Turtles – You Showed Me Lyrics 11 years ago
i dont think this song is about drugs at all but instead just about two people falling for each other. the reference to "tripping" i think is just another way of saying that this love wasn't accidental

Lauryn Hill – Adam Lives in Theory Lyrics 11 years ago
i personally think that this line refers to women being mistreated in society and backing away from the pursuit of intellectualism only to instead seek power in femininity and sexuality. for example "she didnt enjoy being "turned down" by the pride and greed of other people so she instead found solice in selling her sex (the images of teen american girls experimenting in college with bisexuality just to gain attention comes to mind).

anyway i had the same ill feelings towards this lyric but ive come to analyze it differently over time. this song is so terribly deep that i think we'll only truly understand it if we tap into lauryns mind and feel the nuances she feels.

a major theme i tend to find in a lot of lauryns songs is "equality" so maybe that has something to do with how i feel about this lyric.
