One can be punished for actions without people in glass houses choosing who should live and die. Judas was obviously punished emotionally by his own hand. Just an incredible song. Some songs are simply notes...mere vocals and instrumentals with or without great emotion. And some songs are poetry...short novels filled with such emotion that they actually create elation or despair in the listener. Unbelievable tune! I'm not good at much more than scratching the surface of meanings, but I'll give it a shot: "Just tell me that you like me in the same sentence as a mountain side. 'Cause it would be such a relief to be objectified." The singer wants to know s/he (in this case it's a male) is viewed as strong and important. He wants to be seen as flawless. He wants/needs to feel seen this way. (I'm not getting the feeling that 'objectified" is a negative in this case, as it would be with a female being appreciated only for her looks, in example.) "Looking forth and looking back, our vision can't extend beyond the quaint vanishing points our bodies' recommend." He can't see past the present- past the superficial. He either can't or perhaps won't learn from the past and he won't consider what is best for his future. The here and now is all he cares about- all that matters. "And the boats are only empty. And you can't blame an empty boat that's on a river to the sea.You can't blame a billion boats without a sail, without a sailor." He views himself as an empty vessel (empty inside) and without someone to sail. (He's lost direction, perhaps?). "And that's how we look in photographs, and diaries, and mirrors." Again, he lost his way and all he sees is the present. The past and the future can't or don't matter. "And the ocean won't stop calling" could mean he's being called away, far away from where he may think he should remain. "Just tell me that you like me in the same sentence as a building." He wants/needs to be told that he's viewed as strong by someone who is apparently important to him...a parent, friend, spouse, etc. Hey, what do I know. I just know it's an unbelievable song (lyrcially) and NOBODY has taken the time to decipher it. They speak of how God knew us in the womb and how He does not support the taking of any human life. All life is precious, which includes growing HUMANS in the womb who have heartbeats and brain waves. The lives of convicted criminals are just as precious. Catholics also do not speak ill of those who are gay. Instead, they teach what God demands: hate the sin, but love the sinner. And, once again, homosexuality is not dealt with politically. Simply, "gay marriage" does not exist. Marriage is a sacrament in the church, reserved for man and woman. There are no males with males or females with females in the Bible. The only mention of gays is in the Old Testament where their sin is severely frowned upon. For God, gays are born with a curse they must bear through celibacy. They do not sin if and until they act of their desires. Even when we humans choose to sin, God does not love us any less. He loves (for instance) me no less or more than someone who is gay and actively sinning sexually. We are at a time in history when it's horrible to not support gay "rights" or to dis blacks and Muslims, but it has become acceptable to hate and defame Christians who are simply following the teachings of God. Whether you have faith or are faithless, God cannot be proved or disproved through any other means. And to not include Christians when these musicians bask in the glow of diversity; inclusion; and tolerance, is to show how prejudiced and ignorant they really are. I have many openly gay friends on FB (and in my personal life). I adore each and every one of my friends. Each knows my non-support of supposed "gay marriage." A handful of my gay friends are in longterm relationships. Each understands that to a Christian the teachings of God surpass the secular, and that one can indeed love what s/he sees as someone who sins... for we each sin in our own ways.
