Whiskeytown – Turn Around Lyrics 7 years ago
from what i can tell, this is what's being said in the background at the end: "it's just a rumbling in the distance / & the damage still between us / & the walls to the buildings are the dreams that will keep us"

the end:

"making out's enough / we need faster guns / maybe i give up / maybe money isn't coming / it'd be nice to just have fun / maybe married counts as running / let's run together / i'm going back in time"

Fucking vaguest song I've ever heard. Great though.

Manchester Orchestra – I Can Feel a Hot One Lyrics 11 years ago
This song is about a car crash that aborts a child. I'm not too sure about what happens after that but I'm pretty sure the woman whose child was aborted kills herself afterwards. As evidenced by the lines:

"To pray for what I thought were angels
Ended up being ambulances
And the Lord showed me dreams of my daughter
She was crying inside your stomach"

"I could tell it was over by the curtains that hung from your neck"

"I was in the front seat, shaking it out
And I was asking if you felt alright" etc.

BUT, most importantly, here's what Andy Hull had to say about the song in an interview: "The way that song is written is, in the first half I'm basically just describing touring and kind of my relationship with God and my wife. And the end is about this dream I had about us being in the van and getting sideswiped and hit by a huge truck. I dreamed my wife was pregnant at the time and I lost her. But this life was inside her, and in some weird way I was able to celebrate that there was some new life coming with one ending."

handoverfist's interpretation of the songs is incredibly mortifying and devastating, but horribly true.

Passion Pit – Constant Conversations Lyrics 11 years ago
mikec's got it right - Angelakos has had lots of issues mentally. This song is about him becoming more and more reliant on his wife to fix his troubles. The last four lines in my opinion are the most devastating: "If there's a bump in the road yeah you'd fix it / but for me well I'd just run off the road / but tonight you've got me cornered / and I haven't got a place to go."

Passion Pit – Carried Away Lyrics 11 years ago
At first, I thought this was just a simple love song -- the chorus and the first couple verses really make it seem that way. But after that, the lines get a bit more complex -- "Listen I don't really know you / and I don't think I want to / but I think I can fake it if you can". This line shows that this could be about a relationship gone wrong; either that or a relationship that is only really used for sex. But the next verse "And let's agree there's no need / no more talk of money / let's just keep pretending to be friends" makes everything even more complex. It's as if they're putting on a show for people. They want people to know that they are together, but they loathe each other and don't want to be together.

Passion Pit – I'll Be Alright Lyrics 11 years ago
I feel like this song is about a man who loses the love of his life and resorts to drinking and drugs in order to fill the gap the lover left. "I drink a gin and take a couple of my pills" really cements this thought.
