Death Cab for Cutie – Portable Television Lyrics 7 years ago
I hear the lyrics a little different. I hear "They sodded soil, just recently/they grow in fields of infinite grief". Meaning, the father is dead, and the "rows of teeth", which are gravestones, are growing with grief of the death of a loved one.

Do you know that this is band is a side project? The main singer (well the only singer actually, he is his own band), whose name is Ben Gibbard, is the main singer of Death Cab for Cutie. Look up Codes and Keys on youtube, that is their newest album.

OneRepublic – All The Right Moves Lyrics 7 years ago
This song is about other bands popularity. All the other bands have all the right friends in all the right places, they have all the right moves and all the right faces.

"Paint a picture of the perfect place, they've got it better than when anyone's told ya, They'll be the king of hearts and your the queen of Spades, Then we'll fight for you like we were your soldiers."

The perfect place is other bands, how everybody likes them. They are the King of Hearts, and really their fans don't fit with them because they are the Queen of Spades, so it is a plea to stay with them, how they will fight like soldiers for them.

"I know we've got it good
But they've got it made
And the grass is getting greener each day
I know things are looking up
But soon they'll take us down
Before anybody's knowing our name"

He says they are doing fine, yet they don't even have to try, they have it made for them. The grass is getting greener on the other side of the fence every day. Things might be looking up, but they will take them out soon, before anybody likes them (too late, I already love them).

"Do you think I'm special, do you think I'm nice
Am I bright enough to shine in your spaces
Between the noise you hear and the sound you like
Are we just sinking in the ocean of faces"

He is asking us if we think he is special, nice, good, etc... (yes). Is he good enough to shine, to shine in our space. Between all the music we hear and the music we actually like, are they being outnumbered. Are they melting into the background where nobody will notice them.

It can't be possible that rain can fall,
Only when it's over our heads
The sun is shining everyday, but it's far away
Over the world it's said, they've got, they've got

The rain always seems to be falling on them, but only when it is over their heads. Everything seems to be going wrong. The sun still shines, but it is to far away.

It don't matter what you see
I know I could never be
Someone that'll look like you
It don't matter what you say
I know I could never face
Someone that could sound like you

He saying no matter how good they get, they will never be like the other bands. They will never be able to beat somebody who sounds like them. They are being humble.

They basically are saying that they never will live up to critics standards and will always be looked down on.

(All the right friends in all the right places)
So yeah we're going down
(All the right moves in all the right places)
So yeah we're going down

On the second line it should be faces, not places again. I already thought it was that, but then I saw the music video where they all have the masks on, it fits in perfectly.

Coldplay – Major Minus Lyrics 7 years ago
I think it is about trusting nobody. He has one eye on the road (where they are going) and one on her (making sure she isn't bad). "Its us against the world" (referencing the song) means they are alone, and they need to trust each other to survive. He wants to, but its hard. The crocodile ticking around the world is a reference to Peter Pan. It is talking about the crocodile that ate the clock. Every time Hook here's that clock, he is terrified. It is probably referencing something that they are terrified about (presumably what they are running from).

"You could hear them climbing the stairs
I got my right side fighting while
My left hides under the chairs"

You can hear them coming after you,
his right side is what he shows, the brave side that wants to fight.
His left is the other half that he hides. He is hiding that he is really scared. He wants to hide, but he knows it isn't an option, that he needs to protect her.

Anyways, it is a great song, one of my favorite off their album.

Like papersun said, I think it is about Peter Pan and the aligator who swallowed the clock. It is something that she is worried about, something in her past that she hopes never comes back.

I was just listening to this song and I heard those lyrics (before coming here) and it makes sense. I think that is what they meant by that.

Coldplay – Charlie Brown Lyrics 7 years ago
Well, since their album follows a love story, here is what I think. Hurts like Heaven was the beggining, and then it flashes back to Paradise and Charlie Brown. Paradise was about the girl leaving her home to discover herself, but all her dreams were never happening because the world is a cruel place.

Charlie Brown is about the guy trying to make it through life before meeting her. IT starts in the beginning with him stealing a car and going downtown to do drugs with the "lost boys". The lights going down at the end of the scene are cop cars coming. They show up and he gets busted. It is like his "scarecrow dreams", bad dreams of people destroying everything he ever wanted (drugs are the scarecrows that destroyed his life). The rose part is probably either the girl encouraging him to got back up again, or some other form of moral support. Then the moral support goes on to say (no that i listen to it, it probably is the girl) to him that he should be a cartoon heart. Be like Charlie Brown, who is always getting picked on and nothing really works out for him. Always get back up again. Finally, the glow in the dark is for both of them to always be a positive light to all the boys and girls with all their problems. They went through all their troubles and they want to glow, be a light and show them how to get through it.

This is one of my favorite songs on their album.
