The Black Keys – The Only One Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I feel strongly that this song is simply about the guy feeling so crazy in love with a girl he met. She may be a close friend. He dreams of her. He "falls down", or stumbles, when she is around him. "Cupid's bow, it stung" is self explanatory, it means Cupid shot his arrow and he knows this girl is the one for him, he is in love. He says he can't contain the control she has on his soul. He is helpless in his feelings for this girl, he cannot help but to have these feelings. It's almost as if loving or having feelings for this girl comes natural, regardless of what he wants. "When all is said and done, I know you're still the one" simply means no matter what, in the end, she is "the one" for him. That is how I interpret it all. |
The Ready Set – Spinnin' Lyrics | 12 years ago |
This song seems to be unclear about who exactly it's about. The most logical thing I can come up with is that he's singing about a girl that he met, and he really likes her, and he thinks she is very attractive, but is not in a relationship with her, but the way he sings, it sounds like he is digging her very much. |
SafetySuit – Stranger Lyrics | 12 years ago |
The song is about a guy and a girl. They are close friends. The guy dates other girls, but the girl really wants a relationship, she likes him, but he always chooses other girls, regardless of their friendship together. The girl is always hopelessly thinking about a possible relationship with this guy, but she knows it's a long shot. She isn't giving up the idea though. She claims she will commit to him, and really wants him to see how much she likes him. The song even talks about how the guy dated another girl and it all went wrong, and the girl that likes him had to clean up the mess, by being the guy's friend like she always does. |
Civil Twilight – Highway of Fallen Kings Lyrics | 12 years ago |
In my sole opinion, it sounds like the guy is stuck in a relationship, or maybe even more possible, a marriage that he doesn't want or shouldn't be in, so he feels like he is trapped. It could even be with a girl who has a past with many other guys (fallen kings). The guy feels used in a way, whether financially or emotionally, maybe physically (I am the ghost she passes through). The overall meaning of the song comes down to the guy trying to figure everything out in the situation. |
The Ready Set – A Little More Lyrics | 12 years ago |
It's pretty to clear to me what the song is about. To put it simply, the guy (singer) is admitting the girl (possibly a girlfriend) is a much more caring and sweeter person than he is. He then goes on to admit he's selfish sometimes, like when she thinks about their relationship together, he tends to think about himself only. Then he claims he has a plan, and reaffirms things will be different from now on, saying he will give morel love. He goes on to admit that he blames her for things when he shouldn't. He says that he needs her in his life, and he plans to keep her there by making some changes. |
Gotye – I Feel Better Lyrics | 12 years ago |
The song is about someone special to the singer. It could be a close friend or a girlfriend. This person makes him happy, it doesn't matter what kind of mood he's in. This person always makes him feel better and forget his worries. |
Gotye – In Your Light Lyrics | 12 years ago |
The entire song has a simple meaning. It's about God and how the singer is overjoyed to have God in his life, washing away all the worries and stress of every day life. It could also be about a girlfriend as well, which every way you want to take it, but it was most likely written about God. |
Gotye – Smoke & Mirrors Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Alright guys, I'm going to give you my opinion of what the song means. It reminds me of my ex girlfriend. There are people out there that have mental problems and disorders of certain kinds, and this song explores an example of an individual like this. "You're a fraud and you know it But it's too good to throw it all away Anyone would do the same You've got 'em going And you're careful not to show it Sometimes you even fool yourself a bit It's like magic But it's always been a smoke and mirrors game Anyone would do the same" Basically this is saying this individual (in my opinion, a female or ex g/f) puts on a "Show", being one person, but acting like another, like split personalities. The person is a "fake" or "fraud". They're a fraud. It's a smoke & mirrors game means that this person is putting on a front, working magic to get what they want, they are selfish. "So now that you've arrived, well, you wonder - What is it that you've done to make the grade? And should you do the same? (Is that too easy?) Are you only trying to please them? Will they see then- You're desperate to deliver Anything that could give you A sense of reassurance When you look in the mirror" The making the grade part is meant to come off as sarcastic, meaning this person really hasn't accomplished anything. Pleasing people is mentioned in here as well, which is self explanatory. They will do anything, even act out of desperation to make themselves feel better at the end of the day, they are insecure. "Such highs and lows You put on quite a show All these highs and lows And you're never really sure What you do it for Well do you even want to know? You put on quite a show" High and lows refers to how inconsistent this person is with their life, whether emotions, relationships or career. This person is unsure about why they do what they do, but at the same time you wonder if they do it on purpose, to put on a show. Ultimately, this person, deep down does not have a purpose for what they do, no excuse for their actions. "You're a fraud and you know it And every night and day you take the stage And it always entertains You're giving pleasure And that's admirable you tell yourself And so you gladly sell yourself To others Mother Are you watching?" This is saying that the person puts on a show, like an entertainer, both physically and mentally. Playing mind games with people, while also selling herself or her body to get what she wants, no matter the consequences. "Mother, are you watching?" has stumped me, but my best guess is that he's asking the person's mother if she is watching how crazy and psychotic this person is, the one she raised. That's my opinion, any comments are welcome. |
Patrick Stump – Everybody Wants Somebody Lyrics | 12 years ago |
The song is basically about how some people "like" or have feelings for other people, but the ones they like don't ever like them back, and maybe someone likes the singer, but he doesn't like them. It's just a way of saying we don't always get the people we "like" or have feelings for. "Don't you get hurt" simply means to be careful and not put yourself out there too much, and an even deeper interpretation is to maybe give a person that likes you, but you just think is "okay", a chance to be with you, but in the end, be sure to be careful and don't let your guard down easily. |
Swimming With Dolphins – Pajama Party Lyrics | 12 years ago |
To me, it sounds like, at first, he is wishing this girl, who is sitting at home, stressed out about all the things around her, would just get up (in her pajamas) and meet up with him some place in the middle of the night. He wants to have a good time with her. He goes on to mention all the places and things they could do together. Then it turns out he was having a dream of all these things, but the sun comes up, waking him, so he wonders if the girl dreamed the same dream he did. The line "If you dreamed of me too" means somehow or some way, the girl possibly DID dream of him as well, so it seems like they are both left wondering if they dreamed the same exact dream of getting together and having fun. And @oceaneyes...this is not Adam Young, it's Austin Tofte |
Swimming With Dolphins – Easy Lyrics | 12 years ago |
"Tell me when it's over, I will begin pulling the boards from my front door once it is safer then, I'll show my face again Yeah I want you closer, I've been livin', just like a ghost for the most part I'm feeling dissonant, And you're indifferent" -The singer is unhappy in a relationship, he is getting tired of everything, living like a "ghost", not feeling in love. "But, you're still not sure Yeah you're still not sure Let me make it easier You don't have to call, You don't have to say, "I love you" again, If you want a love that's easy Then I would rather have nothing" -The singer is frustrated with his girlfriend and to the point where he is calling it quits, making it "easy" for her. Then he is basically saying it's not true love if it's easy, because love and relationships are hard work, but the girl expects it to be easy. "Maybe when we're older it'll sink in Cause heaven knows this ain't blowin' over anytime too fast, But everything will pass Yeah I'm getting bolder with my thinking You've got me wrong for so long I can't even turn my back Without you falling off track" -They are having major issues in the relationship, and he is confident one day, when they're older, they will look back on it and realize it wasn't right for them to be together. He is thinking more clearly now, realizing how stupid he is to stay in the relationship, and that he always has to look out for her because she always makes mistakes. "Never been so clear as now" -He finally realizes the relationship needs to end |
Swimming With Dolphins – Watercolors Lyrics | 12 years ago |
The singer is talking about a girl that he has feelings for, but she has a boyfriend who is a huge jerk and treats her badly, and she puts up with it. The song mentions the girl crying and being put through a bunch of crap. He says she "isn't the same" which means she has gotten so wrapped up in this guy, that she is changing herself for him instead of being herself, like she used to be. The singer says he has to "let her go", so he's saying he has to drop all the feelings he has for her and move on with his life, instead of waiting around for her to ditch her boyfriend. |
SafetySuit – Crash Lyrics | 12 years ago |
In my opinion, this song is indeed about a car crash involving the singer and a loved one, most likely his girlfriend or wife. It's a conversation between the two. The singer isn't injured as much as the girl is. The girl is gasping for air, on the verge of dying, and the guy (singer) keeps telling her she will be okay and it's not her time to die. |
Mat Kearney – Chasing the Light Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I am completely shocked that there are no comments on this song. Simply amazing song and lyrics. My interpretation is that Kearney is singing about a girl he was in a relationship with a girl who never had any direction in her life, something I can certainly relate to. The girl was always lost, and obviously still is. It seems as if the two are now indeed broken up, so he is saying that he will pray for her and hope she will find what she is looking for in life. Mat Kearney is Christian and the lyrics in this song show it. It's about loving and praying for people, regardless of what they do. Very nice song ans great artist. |
