Grouplove – Colours Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I feel as though this is about a person who is experiencing a sense of individuality and gained an immense appreciation of life. Their realization occurs when they see all those colors. There are some other people who experience it too, but others who do not. At least that is one way I see it... Another way, is to view this as a guy talking about being gay. He is trying to persuade those who are gay (ones who have these "colors") that it is perfectly fine to be gay ("It's the colors you have / No need to be sad / You've still got your health"). "I am a man, man, man, man Up, up in the air And I run around, round, round, round this down town and act like I don't care. So when you see me flying by the planet's moon, You don't need to explain if everything's changed Just know I'm just like you." He is talking about being openly gay, not caring what other people think and he being brave enough to soar above everyone and into the spotlight (the moon). He says he is just like you, because he wants people to not dehumanize him just because his sexuality goes against what society deems to be a norm. "So I am a man, man, man, man Up, up in the air And I float around, 'round, 'round this downtown And know I shouldn't care. So when you see us there out in the open road You don't need to explain If everything's changed Just know that you don't know." He means to express how when you see openly gay people in the world, he wants to discourage those who are not gay from trying to understand or make science or studies about their sexuality, but rather to just try accepting it, because they will never reach an honest understanding. And the man who shot himself was upset with the fact that he was married and unhappy because he was gay. So the main guy is trying to prevent that from happening to others by telling everyone that it is okay to be gay. |

Jónsi – Around Us Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I think it has to do with getting older and making sure you live life to the fullest you can despite your hardships and all the twists and turns, ups and downs life takes you through ("I see forest, a treasure chest full of labyrinth I see a door, holes in the floor We'll break seeds, we'll grow"). He knows we will all have to die eventually, but hopefully we can enjoy the journey until then. And when death does come, he knows we all want to die naturally and painlessly but we can't know for sure if that will happen; so maybe we can focus on a happy place we will go to no matter our death. He says that place is called home:: ("We all want to grow with the seeds we will sow We all want to go with the breeze we will blow We all want to know when we're all meant to go To a place you and I- Will call home"). |
Jónsi – Sinking Friendships Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I think this song means what s7409651 said down below (because it makes sense and Jonsi said that's the meaning), but I also want to interpret it in a way that I thought it meant before I read that comment. I think everyone can relate to this song if you think about it in a basic meaning: "You never know the value of what you have until it's gone." |
Jónsi – Tornado Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I agree with what many of you are saying here, whether it is an internal battle within himself or within someone close to him whom he loves. But just think about how he chose to use "volcano" and "tornado" to represent the internal torments. These are massive natural disasters which are inevitable and sometimes unpredictable and very destructive. He chose these horrors to represent the chaos within this individual (whether it is him or someone else). I think when he says "I wonder if I'm allowed ever to see; I wonder if I'm allowed to ever be free" and "I wonder if I'm ever allowed just ever to be," he means he wonders if he'll ever know what it is like to conquer these inner torments. By doing so, he feels as though he'll be able to live again without an inside struggle. Also, I guess he is gay? So this song could be about this subject and how he wants to accept the fact that his sexuality is irreversible; he will essentially have to learn to know how to deal with this huge part of his life. |
The Love Language – This Blood Is Our Own Lyrics | 12 years ago |
This is a beautiful song :) I'm not sure I totally know what the meaning is, but I am going to take a guess... I think that it might have to do with a couple growing older together ["the dirt on your face was the ashes"- like maybe that's a way of saying wrinkles from working so hard, from smiling/laughing in life, from just living etc], trying to live life to it's fullest by chasing the storm [All we've reaped and all that we've sown, this blood is our own]. And then maybe one of them is sick and the other is encouraging the other to get healthy again ["raise your head, you've got to get better"]. So I don't know if this is anywhere close to the actual meaning, I just thought I'd take a shot at it :) |

Björk – 5 Years Lyrics | 12 years ago |
You know what's funny? My bf bought this cd for my bday right when he broke up with me in 2010. I couldn't get into the music, mainly because it came from him when he crushed my heart and soul. I just now began to look into it and read about it. This album is all about heartbreak and anger. He probably knew that because he always looked into music before he bought anything. But wow, listening to this song and thinking about how he hurt me... wow... he is definitely a coward. |

I think it can summed up as a simple comment like that =D |
Florence + the Machine – Between Two Lungs Lyrics | 12 years ago |
To me, this song means the feeling of euphoria after your significant other finally tells you that they love you. Up until this point, it seems as though the fact that they weren't expressing their love for you was distressing you for a long time. Now that they released their feelings for you (the breath and words that had been blocked up between the two lungs) has had a blissful effect on you. You experience feelings of enchantment, floating and flying freely (the full love effect). You have all those incredibly happy feelings running through you and your veins. Finally, you get the confidence and excitement to finally express your love for him (now that you are fully knowledgeable on the extent of his feelings for you), which will finally complete the intensely passionate exchange between both of your lungs and lips (virtually both your hearts and soul). I absolutely love this song. Everyone who has been in love knows perfectly well how one would feel in this situation =D and those who haven't, it is an experience you must have, even if you get hurt in the end. Love, it's the purpose of life. |
Redlight King – Built to Last (2) Lyrics | 12 years ago |
It seems like this song is pretty much self explanatory but I am just going to add my idea. I think that it means that he has struggled through so much pain and struggles in his life- he has been beaten and broken. He has just realized that he has to keep moving forward no matter what has happened to him in his past. His life still moves on so he gets more chances to make things better but he now knows that he needs to try to not to rely on the past to restrict him in any way or else it will just get him down. After realizing he needs to stay motivated to get through life, he recognized the fact that he is "built to last" anything life throws at him which can then give him to confidence to face his present and future challenges. |

Linkin Park – Breaking The Habit Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Jordanwolfe51, with respect, I think that all Linkin Park songs make sense. Maybe they didn't for you because you have never experienced the pain or strong emotions each song's lyrics and music evokes. I have had some experiences in my life that have given me pain and confusion as well as many people (I'm assuming, which I know is a big assumption). It's been almost nine years since you posted that, so more than likely you've had to deal with unfortunate events which might make you to gravitate towards Linkin Park's lyrics to cope and heal as many of their fans have. |
A Perfect Circle – The Outsider Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I totally agree with you. I think you have the best response and that is exactly what I was thinking. I have an additional idea to add. I wanted to just twist it around by saying that I also think that this song could be from the addictive individual's point of view rather than a sober person looking at their addictive friend. The addict could be looking at themselves as an outsider, thinking that they do not recognize this monster they've become. Almost as though they are looking in the mirror: their reflection is their conscious and the body they're in is their destructive self. They know deep down (like their conscious) that they are being destructive and yet they continue to cause more harm to their mind, body and life. It is as if they are yelling at their own self trying to break free from this addictive behavior; like they are trying to scare it away. The conscious tries to convince the addict that if they continue on their destructive path, they will die sooner than later, which essentially defeats life's purpose. Sorry, this is all probably confusing, jumbled, long, and boring, but I immediately thought about this after listening to this song, so I had to get my ideas out. |
