spinachsalad ... you need to learn more about drugs in general. sure, cough syrup is a medicine that has a positive effect - when taken at the RECOMMENDED dosage. bet you didn't know that people can get high off of the active ingredient DXM and do what is called "robotripping" - but you have to drink a decent amount for this to happen. and the high is not necessarily always a "good one - various amounts will have different effects, ranging from awesome to downright shitty.
so no, you're definitely NOT the brightest one posting about this song. do your homework kid, and stay in school. seems like the only one that has been "controlled" by MTV is you; you're a typical 17 year old that thinks they know some real deep shit about life ... seriously, subliminal messaging trying to get kids to kill themselves with cough syrup? although you are somewhat correct about the origin of the song, that it is literally about drinking cough syrup, you are way off base if you think MTV even cares about trying to get kids to kill themselves. So I was hanging out with my friend "J" today in Irvine, and I asked him if he was going to Coachella .. he said, "yeah", but I don't have a ticket yet ... since they sold out in about 4 hrs after they went on sale I asked him, how?! He told me that he is actually really good friends with the brother of the drummer (Francois Comtois) and he's getting backstage passes at Coachella ... anyway, he told me about the origin of this song; a couple years ago one night my friend J went over to their house with 2 pints of cough syrup (DXM) and him and the band got pretty fucked up on it; so that was the inspiration for writing this song ... then the Jakes (their band name at the time) went on to write a bunch more songs, then hit it big and now they are known today as Young the Giant! so yeah, this song is literally about cough syrup, LOL. |
