Mumford & Sons – Sigh No More Lyrics | 9 years ago |
alright so a long long time ago (in a galaxy far far away :]) there was this girl that I had started to really really like. I knew she liked me but Ididn't want to make a move because there were so many things I was scared of. What if it didn't work out and we stopped being friends or that I wouldn't enjoy being in the relation ship and feel obligated to stay with her. I was in complete torment because I didn't know what to do. One day I was listening to my music while thinking about this and how unsure of everything I was. Then this song came on. I had never litened to it before so I didn't know any of the words but for some reason I decided to listen to it that day and when I heard the words I felt like God must want me to be in a relationship with her because this on song answered every worry I had with being with her. the first part describes how maybe he was telling me to calm down and stop worying about it. The "one foot in sea one on shore" part was me not knowing what to do and same thing with the "Oh man is a giddy thing". then the refrain part is waht got me with all my concerns. It basically was saying that being in love and with her was not going to hurt me or anything like that and I wouldn't feel trapped in the realationship. That I should be with her because that is who I was suppose to be (before hand I was all about the single life). It just seemed amazing how perfect this song was for me. Of course then I did date her and then later she broke up with me to be with someone else so I have't been on best terms with this song lately |

so When I listen to this song I always think of a man losing someone close to him. So at the beginning of the song when he falls off the boat is the moment when he loses the person he loves. the boat leaving the country is the way he should go since it's probably closer which is a meetaphor for him needing to move on but instead he wishes to go back to the way things were. the life vest is help that he doesn't have to get through this problem and because of this he is sinking deeper into his depresion. He wishes he was stronger so he could get through it on his own. Now that he is in his depressive state all alone he is just sinking deeper and deeper into his depresion hence, "I'm sinking to the bottom of my". Everything scares him now like future comitments and any comforting things he had are slowly disapearing. The refrain talks about how he wishes he could escape this feeling and how he is just being consumed by this feeling. Eventualy he gets to the point where he wishes he could just die or let it all consume him so he wouldn't have to fight it anymore. He just wants it to fall so it will hopefully go away. the coast gaurd part is about people that he things can help and he is wondering why they aren't areound to help him. He tries to find things that will help him but there isn't anything around. he is trying so hard not to be overcome with his depresion and he doesn't know how he can keep it up. He tries certain things but they just bring him down even more. finally he just stops fighting it and excepts his fate. This could mean a suicide attempt or just giving up for a moment. after this moment he comes out of his depresion and he has a moment of clarity. He starts thinking about what he did to lose her and why he did it. He then later thinks again on how he lost her and how important she was to him. Once this happens his depresion returns and he wants to just end it all again and while he falls again all he thinks of just her. I just love this song mostly for its depth. If anyone who relaly didn't like thinking about this stuff listened to this song they would just think about a guy who fell off a boat. You really have to stop and think about what the song is saying to find more of its true meaning and I just love that. |

I agree that this is a really happy song. Most of breaking benjamins songs are really kind of depressing sounding. Its nice to know that they make these kind of songs. Every time I hear this son, I think of God and faith and stuff like that. |

I really haven't given this song alot of thought, but when I lisen to it, I think of the sirens from the Odyssey especially the part So tie me to a post and block my ears I can see widows and orphans through my tears I know my call despite my faults And despite my growing fears This sounds like the part when Ulysses (or Odyseus, which ever you prefer) came neer them and orders the men to tie him to a post. The widows and orphans part is him seeing there other victims. The other part that makes me think of this is, So make your siren's call And sing all you want I will not hear what you have to say He is ignoring the sirens. Thius is just what I think, please tell me if you think this is right. |

I ahree with you. Except I don't think he changes, I feel like he just starts disliking her, in the ending part, "I'm waiting",- he is waiting for her to like him. Then I thought the next line was, "I'm Praying" in which I figured he was praying for her to like him, "Realize, start, hading" he realizes she is a jerk and hates her. Other than that i agree with you. |

Breaking Benjamin – The Diary of Jane Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I think it is about a guy who's girlfriend, that he loved alot, died so now he is going through her diary to see what she wrote about him. "If I had I would put myself right beside you," he is offering to kill himself to be next to her. then the refrain is him going through her diary. "As I try to find my place int the Diary of Jane," he is looking for what she said about him. "Try to find out what makes you tick," he he is reading to try to find out what she likes and dislikes. "There's a fine line between love and hate," she might of said something bad about him and he is saying there is a difference between love and hate. Then the part in the reframe, "As i burn another page, as I look the other way," he is saying that he is finding alot of things she has said about him that are bad or she has done things that are not good so he tries not thing bad about her and then just gets rid of that page so no one else will ever know. then the final part, "Desperate, I will crawl waiting for so long no love, there is no love die for anyone What have I become," he is wondering how long he will have to wait to die and be with her and he is still willing to die for her but realizes that is wrong. It migt be the best interpratation but hey, I'm new at this. |

I agree with the meaning of the part, "as we dance with the devil tonight" but I think it is more about a friend then the user. His friend has started doing drugs and it has consmed his or her life. the part "I believ in you, I can show you that I can see right through all your empty lies" means he still believes this person can still change there ways.I think the part, "easy to find whats wrong, harder to find whats right." sort of means the same thing. He's looking for what is still good about this person but can only find what is wrong. then the part, "I won't last long, in this world so wrong," and the other part, "feeding your cold dead eyes, stealing the life of mine," means that he is getting dragged into what ever his friend is doing. |
Breaking Benjamin – Unknown Soldier Lyrics | 12 years ago |
i think it is about a private in the Vietnam war. I think of Vietnam because of the helcopter sounds at the beggining. The first few lines, Borderline dead inside I don't mind falling to pieces, the guy is saying he has no life and doesn't mind dying in the war.the next lines, count me in violent let's begin feeding the sickness, the commanding officer asks for volentiers to go on a mission. The private agrees because he wants to fight and kill people. The "sickness" is fighting since is is such a terrible thing.then the "How do I simplify." He is saying how does he explain war in a simple way, "dislocate the enemies on the way" They get ambushed and are cut off from the rest of the group. I believe the reframe, "show me what it's like to dream in black and white so I can leave this world tonight" when he says "dream in black in white" I think it means to dream with empty hope, since there is no color. Then when he says to leave this world tonight, he means he wants to die and leave this miserable situation. The next part when he says, "full of fear everclear I'll be here fighting forever" the full of fear means he is really scared since there surounded and fight night and day. "ever clear" means he is understanding how terrible war is. "I'll be here fighting forever" he is stuck and will be there fighting forever. The next part, "curious venomous you'll find me climbing to heaven" he is saying that his curiosity in war was deadly like venom. When he say "you'll find me climbing to heaven" he is slowly running out of suplies and will eventually die. Finally they send a rescue mission to save him and the other troops but something goes wrong so he tells them to just get out of there and leave him behind but try to come back for him. That's the whole "nevermind turn back time you'll be fine I will be left behind" then comes the reframe again. the new part "holding on to time breathe a breath of life so I can leave this world behind" he still has some hope that they will come to rescue him and he wants to leave this place behind. the next part, "It only hurts just once They're only broken bones Hide the hate inside" It ends up they never come back for him. He says being left behind only hurts once. He sarcasticaly says to himself that there only broken bones to make him feal better. finally, he hates them for leaving him behin but hides it inside. Then comes the refrane. He now feels no hope that he will get out alive. He pleads to his rescuers to try again to save him, they never do so he just wants to die and get it over with. This song always makes me sad when I listen to it. |
