I'm in the open catching all the leaves refers to in highs school when Chetro and his buddys would eat outside and they would eat in a field and catch the leaves for hours and miss school and stuff haha. Chad also says, when asked what this song symbolizes, "it's way too deep" ....so yeah

Chadwick Stokes – Black Bottle Lyrics 8 years ago
This song is about in the 1930's and 40's during the Great Depression when lots of people took to the trains and starting "riding the rails." When people would get sick on the trains, they would go to the hospital. With the large influx of hobos, people in the hospitals were getting mad and so they started feeding the sick hobos a mysterious "black bottle" which they said was medicine. However, in reality, it was poison that eventually killed the patient opening more space in the hopsital. Chad goes on to say, "If you're ever ridin' the rails and you get sick, don't drink the black bottle when you go to the hospital." haha

Chadwick Stokes – Adelaide Lyrics 8 years ago
I think this song is about Chad's brother Willy, who loved a girl and didn't love her back..."Oh willy, I wish that you could love me less" etc..

Chadwick Stokes – Ichabod and Abraham Lyrics 8 years ago
It is about one of the twin horses dying, but the more spiritual meaning behind it is that whenever something good happens, something bad will also happen, but you have to be able to rise above the hardships in life.

Dispatch – Elias Lyrics 8 years ago
After high school Chad Stokes traveled with his next door neighbors, who were a pastor's family, to Zimbabwe in West Africa. He met a man named Elias, whom he befriended. Elias's dream was for his sons to leave section 17 and attend school. The song is also just about how horrible of a state Zimbabwe is in right now (Aids, malnourishment, poverty). He tries to reach out to his fans to help Zimbabwe in their upside down state right now. You can donate to the Elias Fund, started by Chad, to help out Zimbabweans. The beginning of the song is in the language Shona and is saying "Are you strong" answered with "I am strong if you are strong", a common greeting in Zimbabwe.
