I agree with Salty Kevin. and it doesn't matter if it's a "drug house" because the song is about the warmth and hospitality given out from a particular place where all these human paths were funelled through. all the details you need are described in the song. it's unnecessary to try to attribute any other circumstantial details to get the full feeling of this song |

I agree anisara.
I think that the meeting "in a hell beneath the stairs" shows that the singer saw this other person in some sort of self-induced nightmare where he/she doubts being able to either find or accept love.
I think the 3rd and 4th lines are basically saying that this other person has to face their fears - would it be worth it not to try? |
