I always thought it was about a relationship between a child and their parents. "But there's a hole in my heart where I once kept a piece of home" - there's a hint. And the chorus just speaks in rebelling "What if one of yours turned a color" like (What if one of your children turned against you) "I can't exist here anymore" like the "home" environment is just not suitable for him. I also read up that Wes' father was a priest/pastor. So how could you ever expect Wes' character to relate to that? And with that said, I stand with my interpretation of the song. Btw, I love this track and can relate to it alot! |
