Devin Townsend – Hold On Lyrics 10 years ago
The line "Say tomorrow you'll capture me the morrow", morrow, is marrow, as in bone marrow.

Devin Townsend – Hold On Lyrics 10 years ago
The song is about a parent watching their child die from a terminal disease. So, the pain feeling isn't strange at all.

Fear Factory – Invisible Wounds (Dark Bodies) Lyrics 10 years ago
This song sums up the whole trilogy concept of the man and machine becoming one and needing each other to survive.

Hurt – Adonai Lyrics 11 years ago
I'd say you nailed it. Also, Adonai is Hebrew for one of the names of God. One of the names that is used as God's name is never to be spoken by man. I think Adonai is the name, but not positive. Makes sense to use a "sacred" name in a song about challenging the existence God.

Stone Sour – The House Of Gold & Bones Lyrics 11 years ago
I was wondering if this album was about Corey's personal struggles and after the Waterloo reference, I'm certain of it.

Blind Melon – Cheetum Street Lyrics 11 years ago
Travis said that the song was about his mother and she was also the one who does the female vocals.

Stone Sour – Absolute Zero Lyrics 11 years ago
I don't think it really has anything to do with Paul at all. Vol. 3 and All Hope Is Gone had their fair share of cheesiness. Also, Corey has been the main lyric writer, Paul and Joey were the main instrumental writers.

Stone Sour – Inhale Lyrics 11 years ago
Seems to be about Corey's experience in Slipknot and how his inner-most personal problems are on display for all to see. The hair touching and cheek pinching, is a reference to the masks he wore. "Come one and all and see the broken man, talking to himself" is about people not fully understanding what he is saying in his lyrics, so he is basically talking to himself. Also, how you need to take in hard times (inhale) and when you get to release your demons (exhale) and truly appreciate the good times.

It's a song about Narnia that he wrote while tripping.

Five Finger Death Punch – Salvation Lyrics 11 years ago
What if they wrote a song about spelling and grammar?

Marcy Playground – The Ballad of Aslan Lyrics 11 years ago
He's actually correct about Woz not doing any drugs. Most of the songs on Wonderland were written in 2006. A lot of the songs deal with drug problems and getting clean. arkristen posted that 07. So, technically it is correct.

Opeth – Bleak Lyrics 11 years ago
Regardless of your opinion and interpretation, if Mikael says it's not a concept album, which he does, then it's not a concept album. He even said that when he wrote the lyrics, he had no clue what they were about until after he wrote them. Then he realized they were about personal experiences and then made them a little more sick and twisted. He has also said that the name Blackwater Park is not referring to an actual park as a place. He liked the name so he stole it from the band Blackwater Park.

Opeth – Epilogue Lyrics 11 years ago
I've recently been re-thinking the story and it's starting to seem like the "cycle" is about betrayal. The guy was betrayed and killed (maybe) by his woman and her lover. At the end of when, I think that is spoken by the other man trying to talk her into revealing their love for each other. Around the time of demon of the fall, the woman is killed by her lover and his new lover. I think when she faces him (the first guy) for the first time, she is dead and thus, she is able to see him. I think she is taken to hell for her betrayal right after being killed. Since the main character is in limbo, he will never see her again. So, the cycle is basically a huge "let's fuck and kill each other" douche fest.

Stone Sour – RU486 Lyrics 11 years ago
It's not exactly about abortion, he's simply using it for a metaphor of killing something you created. Since the album story is about a musician and all the various tribulations associated with it, being about an abortion doesn't really fit in. In this part it seems like the success is burdening him so he needs to kill or abort the life he has created for himself.

Stone Sour – Suffer Lyrics 11 years ago
It's about the realization that someone you care about, is not good for you and making the decision to sever ties. The part "just sitting here just turning into a better man", is actually "this idiot has turned into a better man". Which means he couldn't tell that they were bad for him for the longest time, but has since become a better man once he finally figured it out.

I'm not a fan of the "regular" album, but I love all the bonus tracks. They're the only songs I listen to from the album.

Stone Sour – Through Glass Lyrics 11 years ago
It's about the fake, plastic Hollywood life style. The way the song is done is a reflection of this. It sounds as though it's some kind of heartfelt song about a loved one. But in reality, it's not.

Stone Sour – Absolute Zero Lyrics 11 years ago
I have to say that I was fully expecting this album to be a huge, steaming pile of dog shit, but I am very surprised that it's actually good. Corey actually wrote some lyrics that weren't full of cheese and sap. Which has been the case in my opinion, since the stone sour self titled album. Now that I think about it, it's amazing that I even listen to stone sour and slipknot anymore. I guess that's just the amazingness that is Corey Taylor. He can make complete shit and I'll still buy it and listen to it. As far as the meaning goes, I really don't give a shit.

Mudvayne – Dig Lyrics 11 years ago
I don't think they sold out at all. They sure tried like hell, but isn't one of the prerequisites to selling out, to sell something? I know literally zero people that listen to them anymore. Granted, It's not like I know millions of people or anything, but I used to know quite a few that did listen to them. So, I think I would call them "shit-outs".

Pink Floyd – Not Now John Lyrics 11 years ago
No, the songs were written at the same time as the wall. The final cut was basically the left-overs. Since they were written before all of the crap between Gilmour and Waters really blew up, this song really couldn't be about that. Unless they have a crystal ball or a Delorean.

Demon Hunter – Beheaded (feat. Mike Williams) Lyrics 11 years ago
Just because DH is a christian band, doesn't automatically mean that all of they're songs are about christianity, jesus or god. Knocloo27 actually has the facts about the song. Ignoring facts and relating everything to god, is one of the most annoying things about christians. Fuck, I can't stand religion!

Hurt – Links & Waves Lyrics 11 years ago
This song is done in the same way that ten ton brick and aftermath were. This is the second part. However, it seems as though eden and links and waves could be a prequel to ten ton brick and aftermath. At first it irritated me me how short this song is, but now I realize that the magic of the song comes from minimalism of it.

DevilDriver – Die (And Die Now) Lyrics 11 years ago
oi, to the person wid the above comment... Fuck, you're retarded. They were absolutely a metal band. They can definitely be considered nu-metal, which is used to describe the many American metal bands that were formed in the mid-90s, used a lot of breakdowns and simple power chords, guitar solo's were basically nonexistent, vocals were a mix of guttural screams and generic clean vocals. Also, if you are referring to them as being "a good band" based on being good at playing their individual instruments, aka playing complex time signatures and being technically proficient at it etc., then you are wrong. Their music is very simple and basic. If, by "good", you mean "I like this band, so that means that they're good", you should clarify which one it is. Saying a band is good is a factual statement, not an opinion. I actually happen to like Coal Chamber, but that doesn't make them good. I listen to quite a few bands that I would never consider to be actually good, but I still like them. Static X is a great example of this. Watch the video on youtube that has Wayne giving guitar lessons , and you'll see what I mean.

Hurt – Talking to God Lyrics 11 years ago
So whether they are or are not, matters? Good music is good music. If they aren't I'm assuming that you would have a problem with it. It would seem as though they are anti-religion, but not necessarily anti-god or atheists. I absolutely despise the virus that is christianity and think that the religious, judgmental, piece of shit-hypocrites, should be wiped clean of the Earth. I also listen to quite a few christian bands simply because of what I said earlier, good music is good music. Eat shit and die, fucking pariahs.

Opeth – Death Whispered a Lullaby Lyrics 11 years ago
It kind of seems like a parent trying to console their child after they have lost a loved one for first time. This song is one of the more difficult opeth songs to pin down a meaning.

Wow, Steven Wilson is a such a piece of shit. I can't believe he knew about 9/11 six years before it happened and he just let all those people die. He must be a doer of evil...

Anathema – A Natural Disaster Lyrics 11 years ago
It's about a loved one passing away that you took the time you had with them for granted and in the end you wish you had just gone and seen them. We always assume that there will be a tomorrow. The shame comes from the fact that you more than likely didn't spend time with them for selfish reasons. The day that the person died, you were going to go visit them, but instead changed your mind and went somewhere else.

Marcy Playground – Death of a Cheerleader Lyrics 11 years ago
It's definitely not saying cheerleaders are more important. It's pointing out the fact that anyone, even seemingly happy kids, can fall victim to depression and suicide. Since cheerleaders are viewed as being outgoing, fun-loving and happy, it takes an unexpected tragedy such as this, to make people wake up and realize it can happen anyone. We (people) need a punch in the face to take something serious, such as teen depression and suicide, as opposed to just a lite poke. All the while walking around pretending everything is alright.

Green Carnation – Light Of Day, Day Of Darkness Lyrics 11 years ago
It's strange to me that with how many people"love" this song, no body that commented, fully knows what it's about. Torcyht's daughter died around the same time as his son was born. The song is about how devastatingly terrible it felt when he lost his daughter (day of darkness) and how amazing it felt when his son was born (light of day). Probably the two most extreme emotions you could experience and he had them happen at almost the same time. It's unimaginable what that must have been like.

Opeth – The Lines in My Hand Lyrics 11 years ago
It's definitely about religion and how so many governmental decisions are influenced by the religion. As opposed to basing them on logic and facts. Obviously I do not know this 100%, but it extremely doubtful that it's about Bush. Akerfeldt said in an interview that he hoped the album would make people question the existence of god, this goes along with that idea.

Pink Floyd – One Slip Lyrics 11 years ago
In no way is this song about unplanned pregnancy. Gilmour had a cocaine problem in the 80's. The song is about how quickly you can become addicted. Lack of judgement, even for a brief moment, can lead to something very dangerous. The whole album is about the different vices you can inherit and how they effect your life.

Opeth – Patterns In The Ivy (Part 2) Lyrics 12 years ago
The line "disrupted in it's own creation", is actually "destructed in it's own creation". Possibly meaning the moment we are born, we start dying.

Hurt – Abuse of SID Lyrics 12 years ago
I think it deals with the same subject as "Unkind", "Losing", "On the Radio", "Better", "Rapture", "House Carpenter" and quite possibly "Pills" and probably the majority of their songs. He is really good friends with a woman, most likely an ex of his, who is losing control of her life. She has a drug problem and she is in an abusive relationship with another man. The other man won't allow her to the guy that she is friends with. Like a lot of abusive relationships, the woman won't leave him even though he beats her. The man that she's friends with, is saying that "if you(the woman), don't care about what happens to you, then why should I? (you know it wont stop, so you make an excuse to confuse the issue, what makes you think that i'll care about you? She is always making up reasons that she was injured, like, "I fell down the stairs" type bullshit. I agree that SID stands for someone in denial.

A Perfect Circle – Gravity Lyrics 12 years ago
I thought the exact same thing, like 100% convinced, no doubt in my mind. But I was really high at the time and when I listened to it again a couple of days later, I couldn't, no matter how hard I tried to, come to the same conclusion. It was very strange.

A Perfect Circle – Gravity Lyrics 12 years ago
Well, what I do know,is that this is track 13 on the album. In the ever amazing twelve step recovery program, it is often said the thirteenth step is relapse. Since the rest of the album deals with the twelve steps, logic would say that the song is about relapse. I'm guessing that this is the realization that the person is relapsing, but they really don't want to... not that you would want to, but you catch my drift.

Porcupine Tree – I Drive the Hearse Lyrics 13 years ago
Absolutely about a man cheating on his wife/gf. The freedom that stains his coat(skin, he feels it all over himself), is her trust. Driving the hearse means he is the one that's in control of the relationship falling to pieces. He feels guilty for cheating, he wants to tell her but can't. He hopes the mistake he's made, will just somehow go away. Not about murder or suicide, unless you use those words as metaphors for killing the relationship.
