Cage the Elephant – Japanese Buffalo Lyrics 12 years ago
Forgot the second part of the second verse:

In my God I see it there
Ah ha ha , oh ho ho
Hard to see in sand and snow
Those crazy things you do

Cage the Elephant – Japanese Buffalo Lyrics 12 years ago
One two three four five six

There was a guy
And his name was Johnny B.
The loudest man in the land

Alright, okay, alright, okay, alright, okay, uh huh

How many times you cross the line
Run for days with eager eyes
Screaming smile left alone
Those crazy things you do

In the forest of your mind
Haunted by a loss of time
Feet stuck frozen in the snow
Those crazy things you do

Shame
Shame
Shame
Oh oh oh oh oh
Shame
Shame
Shame
Oh oh oh oh oh

Alright, okay, alright, okay, alright, okay, uh huh

Japanese from head to toe
And green to red, red to gold
Waiting on the buffalo
Those crazy things you do

Shame
Shame
Shame
Oh oh oh oh oh
Shame
Shame
Shame
Oh oh oh oh oh

Run it over my skin
Like a cheap plastic knife
In your heart and your mind
Put it always aside
Do it over again
Till it cuts to the bone
We can play by the rules
Or just leave it alone

It's a shame
It's a shame
It's a shame
That your heart turned to stone
That your heart turned to stone

Run it over my skin
Like a cheap plastic knife
In your heart and your mind
Put it always aside
Do it over again
Till it cuts to the bone
We can play by the rules
Or just leave it alone

It's a shame
It's a shame
It's a shame

"If I could paint how I feel, I'd draw a bullseye on your forehead"

I LOVE that line.

Shinedown – Bully Lyrics 12 years ago
It's 'push THEM to the dirt' not him, but otherwise spot-on. Though it would have been better to put the prechorus at the end in parenthesis.

Love the song.

I think not as much about being badass as more of a song after people have been doubting you your whole life you get up and prove them wrong.

WTF. This has nothing to do with religion. Jesus seems like a cool guy but his fan club sucks sometimes

KoЯn – Tearjerker Lyrics 12 years ago
First of all, money can't buy happiness. Second of all, music isn't even always personal. I find as a songwriter if you limit music to your own experiences you find a very weak and invariant selection of lyrical themes.

Linkin Park – High Voltage (Remix) Lyrics 12 years ago
This might be just me but it seems like it might be about technology going too far and creating a fake lifestyle and world, with high voltage being a literal statement. "My Blood type's Krylon Technicolor type A."

Linkin Park – Wretches And Kings Lyrics 12 years ago
To me it seems like, since this album is a concept album about nuclear war and destruction, this song is about Earth coming towards its end and government is taking too much power, and the US is pretty much reverting to feudalsim (the people up top push the people down low) and the people are starting to stand up against the government and landowners.

Long story short, it's pretty much about anarchy.

Seether – No Jesus Christ Lyrics 12 years ago
I find it arrogant of you to come in here and shoot people's beliefs down. I wouldn't go to a bunch of Buddhists and say "there is no Buddha and they're all stupid." It's someone's religion.

Douche.

I love his Kurt-styled sarcasm here. It's about women getting a ton of plastic surgery to improve their appearance, making them fake as a mannequin.

I think it's funny people take the first verse seriously. He's just making of fun of generic pop music. Come on, "Where the birds fly happily" and "the flowers sing in D Minor" and "oh baby baby", have you ever heard Kurt make lyrics like that? He's joking. This song is the shit.

Nirvana – Heart-Shaped Box (Box Set version) Lyrics 13 years ago
I like this version a bit more. I'm a young guitarist and I'm going to playing at a coffee house with a friend of my dad's and I hope to master Heart Shaped Box and do it live. Only this version instead. I like how it's darker and has some cooler lyrics, like 'I've been locked inside the heart shaped coffin for too many weeks.' That's BA. If only Courtney hadn't made him change it. 8(

Nirvana – Something in the Way Lyrics 13 years ago
I believe this song is about being extremely lonely in life.
Here's a ridiculously overdone analysis of why I think this-

"Underneath the bridge, the tarp has sprung a leak"

Underneath the bridge, as in a secluded and lonely place.

"The animals I've trapped have all become my pets"

He's just making anything he can into something to keep him happy.

"And I'm living off of grass and drippings from the ceiling"

He only lives on what he can find for himself, in other words he's completely independent.

"It's okay to eat fish, 'cause they don't have any feelings"

He just doesn't care about the outside world, because it doesn't have any feelings in his eyes.

"Something in the way"

Something's in the way of ending his loneliness but he can't put his finger on it.

Soundgarden – Black Hole Sun Lyrics 13 years ago
The pulling faces is relavent to the fact that they're all slowly getting sucked into the black hole, but moving on without noticing, which makes me think about how this song may be about how people disguise themselves in the rest of humanity with little care of what's going on inside their own little world and selfish desires.

Shinedown – Atmosphere Lyrics 13 years ago
While this is less complex than all of their other songs, it has a very strong cryptic meaning.

I believe this song is about an angel that looks down from Earth from years ago in disgust at what humanity has come to.

Just in case no one knows, this is a tribute/cover to honor a musician who died before he could get his start. Smith wanted this song to be heard so he made a cover of it.

Shinedown – Sin With a Grin Lyrics 13 years ago
When I look at it, I always view it as being about someone who is schizophrenic. Here is some evidence to support my cause-

"Look left, look right
But I'm behind..."

This means that the voice in his head is not seen by him, it's more of an essence.

"Under my skin, where you've always been
Thank you for reminding me to sin with a grin"

Under my skin, as in part of me, and the part of you that's 'under your skin' is reminding you to do wrong.

"Sin with a grin" [in general]

Grin, as in referring to insanity due to their mental state.

"I'm inside
With two black eyes"

Perhaps he means by 'black eyes' obstructed vision, due to his schizophrenia causing him to have obstructed views, moral, or vision.

"Everything you did, you said
You lit the fuse inside my head"

The aforementioned schizophrenia causing his insanity and violent tendencies.

"I have not one shred of sympathy
I have no use for apologies"

The schizophrenia obstructs his moral.

Shinedown – Beyond the Sun Lyrics 13 years ago
Speaking in 'Beyond the Sun' may mean heaven, which may mean that this is about a man that is dying and is telling someone of what will happen to him.

Maybe... but this song is so cryptic it could mean the suicide pact concept, or the love ballad.

Actually, you won't believe this, I have a booklet that has lyrics as written by Shinedown that came with a CD/DVD and it actually is 'Not the silver, let's go straight for gold!'. So no need to worry about that dispute! (Sounds like the other to me too, I know, but that's how Shinedown wrote it 8/ )

Shinedown – The Crow And The Butterfly Lyrics 13 years ago
I saw Shinedown live at The Egg on monday, in which Brent further explained the origins of this dream. He said he had a dream one day of a mother in a large open field, swinging alone on a swingset. He eventually realized that this woman was a mother, who lost her son. He said that while everyone views the mother as the crow and child as the butterfly, he views it the other way around. He says he looks at it as the mother is the butterfly, trying to move on in life and start again... but is being stopped by her memory of her son, the butterfly.

Justin Bieber – Common Denominator Lyrics 13 years ago
Seriously... this song sucks, like most Bieber music. Seriously, there and bands like Shinedown out there, and THIS is more popular? Seriously?
While Bieber is singing
"I don’t wanna go back
To just being one half of the equation
(Half of the equation)
Do you understand what I’m sayin’?
(Whoa)
Girl without you I’m lost
Can’t fix this compass at heart
Between me and love
You’re the common denominator
(oh, oh, oh, oh, ooh, oh, oh)
You’re the common denominator
(oh, oh, oh, oh, ooh, oh, oh)"

Shinedown is singing
"Your words still serenate me
Your lullabies won't let me sleep
I've never heard such a haunting melody
Oohh... it's killing me
You know I can barely breathe...

Just like a crow chasing a butterfly
Dandelions lost in the summer sky
You and I were getting high as outer space
I never thought you'd slip away
I guess I was just a little too late...
"

Why not like songs with lyrics with MEANING instead of this crap...

Justin Bieber – Baby Lyrics 13 years ago
I think this song means-

I am a 16 year old kid with no real talent that has a voice higher than all men's and higher than most girls' too that only got into the industry through looks. (even thought he's lacking them)

Sad to think with such great, strong songs out there this is the one that's been noticed.

Five for Fighting – The Riddle Lyrics 13 years ago
Wow... this is inexplicable... so strong and meaningful... so beautiful... it's truly amazing. Obviously, I just have to solve this 'riddle' about the meaning of life. It's a complicated and there is surely more than one answer- but here is a definite view of this riddle.

"Dad I'm big but we're smaller than small
In the scheme of things, well we're nothing at all."

Well, I think he's talking about view and perspective. Maybe he means compared to other we're big- but compared to what's out in the world we are very small.

"Still every mother's child sings a lonely song
So play with me, come play with me"

Every mother's child sings a lonely song... hmm... hard to say. I believe it may be that at one point, we are all lonely deep down. So play with me, this means that I'm not lonely by you. I think...?

"Son for all I've told you
When you get right down to the
Reason for the world...
Who am I?"

Basically, a reason for the world- a purpose of life- is who are you? Finding an identity of your own and not being of sameness but being unique in your own way.

"There are secrets that we still have left to find
There have been mysteries from the beginning of time
There are answers we're not wise enough to see."

This defines much of the song, actually. What he's saying is- no matter how much we dig down- no matter how much we believe we understand, there will always be more, and there will always be something bigger than you and more secrets and discoveries to find.

"The batter swings and the summer flies
As I look into my angel's eyes
A song plays on while the moon is hiding over me
Something comes over me."

Alright, first- the batter swings and the summer flies. This merely represents the passing of time and chronological succession. In essence- nothing stays in place, everything changes. By "his angel" he means a daughter or a wife. As he looks into her eyes, something comes over me. I believe this may mean-
a.) Death. He's pleased by the last sight of his true love and passes on.
b.) He looks into her eyes and he feels the greatest feeling of intense serenity and joy.

"I guess we're big and I guess we're small
If you think about it man you know we got it all
Cause we're all we got on this bouncing ball
And I love you free
I love you freely."

Hmm... big and small. This means- we are- everything. We can be good, bad. Brave, cowardly. Smart, dumb. Strong, weak. Serene, violent, everything. Humans in nature- can be anything, it's determined by how life works and their experiences. And this big bouncing ball- is our Earth, our home. And I love you free- it means that- love happens. It isn't decided, it isn't controlled. It happens, and when it does, it's true miracle.

So- the question is, what is the answer? Personally, I believe the answer is nothing, because it is everything. It tells about every aspect of life and your time with it. It tells how you may be big but our universe is much bigger. How life is a search for an identity- something that everybody has and needs- a uniqueness, it tells of love and it's strength and passion, and the miracles that cause and are produced from it. It tells of humans' variety of races and personality, and how each one is, even by a little bit, different than any other. It tells of time, its passing- and its indefeasibly. And so much more- the answer to riddle is everything.

It's a beautiful song and among the true greatest song of our fabric of time and history. I want it to play at my own wedding.

Five for Fighting – 100 Years Lyrics 13 years ago
It's- like most of FFF's work- a spectacular song. The lyrics are well-written and it really makes us think and gives the odd feeling when hearing "I'm 99 for a moment, dying for just another moment and I'm just dreaming, counting the ways to where you are..."

Basically- this song means life is short and death is inevitable, so you have to appreciate life as it is and worry more about today than tomorrow.
