The New Amsterdams – Never Treat Others Lyrics
| 8 years ago

@[fading_shadows:5627] Boy, I'm responding 11 years after the fact. Anyway, I just read in an article about the GUK's from 2000 that the song might be about Bill McShane of Ultimate Fakebook. It would make sense ("Little Apple Girl" is an Ultimate Fakebook song), but on the other hand, UFB was Reggie's touring band for a while, and UFB was part of the Lawrence scene as well as tGUK's. I find it hard to believe Pryor barely knew McShane when they were both pretty big in the scene. Also, I saw UFB perform quite a few times in and around Indiana in the early 2000's and McShane was one of the nicest guys you could ask to meet (the entire band was, really). That doesn't fit with him being a jerk, unless the song WAS about him and he took it to heart or something. |

The Impossibles – 4GN 4EVER Lyrics

@[BlackLungFever:2219] I always thought "forging forever." Such as, "forging on"(because they got back together to forge on) or "forging their sound (like they sound like Weezer. It is forgery)" or "forging themselves in the fire to make the ultimate rock band." |

The Stereo – You Can’t Go Home Again Lyrics

@[zouyan:2216] Exactly (geez, your comment was a long time ago). When the Impossibles got back together in 2000, they wrote "Enter/Return" which I believe is about the Impossibles breaking up and getting back together again as well. |

It sounds like the story of the Impossibles breaking up and eventually getting back together. The Stereo had a similar song..."You Can't Go Home Again." |

Green Day – Platypus (I Hate You) Lyrics

Finally someone got it right. Yohannan wouldn't let Green Day play Gilman after they signed to a major label. Green Day played their first show at Gilman (opening for Operation Ivy during their last show) and had history there. Billy has since played there, with Pinhead Gunpowder at least. Yohannan wasn't still running Gilman when Billie came back though, as far as I know. Yohannan was also the subject of the NOFX song "I'm Telling Tim," for anyone who would like another band's take on the guy. |

For Your Lungs Only and Goddamnit came out before I Lied My Face Off. Dan played bass and sang on those releases as well. He did NOT sing/play on the Sundials 7". |

Less Than Jake – This Is Going Nowhere Lyrics

This song reminds me of being a senior in high school and wondering where time went and if I was making the right decisions in life. That was 13 years ago. "Keep losing track of what seems to be 5 minutes ago" really hits the nail on the head. |

"Politics go so good with beer" is another one. Everybody knows mixing liquor and politics is going to end up in a fight! |

The Lawrence Arms – Them Angels Been Talkin' Lyrics

"I feel the Sparks on my teeth and in my veins
Summers spent in basements, smoking in the rain
Number fifteen and Anthony, when will I see you again?
When is the next time we can raise our voices with our friends
If I promise just to love you, promise me you'll always change
It's more than a blackout, or remembering names"
Just perfect. Brendan really knows how to write some brilliant lyrics. |

Train – Hey, Soul Sister Lyrics

This song is about how someone can trick the world into thinking they were serious. "You're so gangster, I'm so thug?" People bought into this? This might be the number one dumbest song ever. Worse than anything Limp Bizkit or ICP could EVER hope to write. I'm sorry, but you have failed at life if you like this song. Shame on Train for ever deciding to put this onto wax. Lord have mercy on your souls. |

This might be the most "emo" ska song of all time. Just brilliant. One of my favorite songs of all time. If they don't play this at Asian Man 15th Anniversary, I'll be sad. |

It seems to me all the Amps songs are about booze/drugs. This might be the best one, though. |
