Tori Amos – Bug a Martini Lyrics 12 years ago
I don't know how that dude at the top managed to interpret this song as being about suicide. Nothing at all suggests this, but meh, everyone can have their opinion.

Tori Amos – 1,000 Oceans Lyrics 12 years ago
Yeah, this is definitiely about the death of Mark's father, but I think she is singing about how she will grieve for her father-in-law and cry for him on behalf of her husband, in order for her to become closer with him (her husband). When she sings "i'm aware what the rules are but you know that i will run you know that i will follow you", she is saying that she knows what the grieving rules are in that she can't really do anything to help Mark get over it, but that she will still follow him and try to help him get through it.
Obviously the death caused a big distance between Tori and Mark, and when she sings "and i would cry 1000 more if that's what it takes to sail you home sail you home sail you home", she is saying that she will cry these oceans to help Mark sail back home to her from whatever dark place he is in.

Tori Amos – Give Lyrics 13 years ago
I think that picture you're talking about is more in reference to the song 'Strong Black Vine'. She's holding a whip, and a whip could be thought of as a strong black vine (at least that's what i've read somewhere here). I mean she actually uses the words 'submission' and 'tie you down' in that song to talk about making a confused believer bow dow to her instead of their evil faith. 'Give' is definitely about vampirism, especially when you consider psychic vampires, which is another term for people who drain energy from you. Tori probably realises she can be like that and so decides instead to give away her psychic energy through her songs, rather than suck it away from others. We are all psychic vampires to an extent, the trick to life is finding out how we can give energy to others using our own abilities.

Tori Amos – I I E E E Lyrics 13 years ago
From what I've noticed on people's interpretations, Tori usually has a certain topic in mind that doesn't personally relate to her, but is a social concern of some kind, and then as the song goes on she internalises that topic and relates it to her own experiences. Like with Jackie's Strength; it was inspired by Jackie Kennedy (as you can see from the opening stanza), but then the rest of the song is about her own misgivings about marriage. This song seems the same to me. She is taking a social topic that people have interpreted to being about misogyny and loss, and then mixed in her own dreams of the child guiding her.
