Dude, most would associate the sun with love, because its the giver of life, it wakes the grapevine. And the darkness is equivalent to everything bad and dreadfull.. it is when we are vulnerable and naked. That's why it says at the end that ONLY if the sun falls will the man need to remember "the lesson of giving" to survive through the noght.
I never thought about the shape of his question literally as a shape on the wall caused by the sun, that was a good interpretation.

"A friutless objective" you say. That's exactly the reason why, if anyone has a chance of being famous and successful at something, (and hasn't yet become so) that task gets priority over love. But I wouldn't quiet say its fruitless for everyone. You do get experience, loving support, sex, and the fact that someone looks up to you and makes you feel superior. We may not choose to forget, because we know the reason we yearn love is because it can 'potentially' work out perfectly and not fade. Someone may yearn someone to keep themselves motvated, so its good to "place importance on" the feeling.
You say its about placing so much importance on a feeling when it really doesnt exist.. If you look upon it that way and think about it hard enough, then no feelings exist. My moto is; if your gut tells you it exists, it exists!
Also, you didn't say why you thought the lyrics were about that.

That's a bit of a far flung theory you have for relating UK to entropy.
"Many younger Britons see Britain being pulled into the Middle East conflict by the U.S. as a "sucker deal". They also see Britain as ossified, decaying, not with the times, and unwilling to revitalize itself." I don't get the immpression Robbie ponders about stuff like that anyway. Entropy could just mean that there is energy in his body which is going to waste (cannot be used). Inotherwords, he feels he should be achieving more with the time he has. I'd say "Wanna feed off the eergy" it somewhat similar to the line "Coz I've got too much life running through my veins going to waste"
Some new words. "flippant" "succor" "proselytizing". You don't talk like that in real life, do you?

Could it be something to do with the fact that you can know you are missing something and be perfectly
