Seems like sometimes the lyrics you input are not the ones loaded onto the page. Don't know why but editing does not seem to help so...

Well, the mouth is open and a noise comes out
Ain't no reason for it, just a need to shout
It's malnutrition, we could fall apart
It's never delicate, just something from the iron age

We shake it up and we break it down
The sound of a satellite saying, "Get me down"
Yeah, we shake it up and we break it down
Hear the voice of America in your home town

Well, the film is running till the film runs out
There's no point of focus, it zooms in and out
It's information and it leaves no mark
It's just as permanent as painting in the iron age

I'm plugged in and loaded
Don't forget to phone in
The self-destruct is holding
I'm counting, I'm counting, but only to three

We get it right sometimes
We shine a light sometimes
We see the fish below the ice sometimes
Stand up and fight sometimes
We get the fright sometimes
How will we ever pay the price this time?

Yeah, we shake it up and we break it down
The sound of a satellite saying, "Get me down"
Yeah, we shake it up and we break it down
It's east European, west European
It's moving so fast it goes all the way round

Yeah, we shake it up and we break it down
Yeah, we shake it up and we break it down
Yeah, we shake it up and we break it down
(Yeah, he's on a mission from god)
(But he don't know whose and he don't know why)
Yeah, we shake it up and we break it down
Yeah, we shake it up and we break it down
(Says I'm not a light in the darkness)
(More like a shadow on the lungs)
Yeah, we shake it up and we break it down
Yeah, we shake it up and we break it down
(I'm balanced here on the edge of anger)
(I'm standing here on an empty page)
Yeah, we shake it up and we break it down
(Sooner or later they'll start receiving)
(I've been standing here for days)

Yeah, we shake it up and we break it down
Hear the voice of America in your home town
Yeah, we shake it up and we break it down
It's east European, west European
It's moving so fast it goes all the way round

George Michael – Kissing A Fool Lyrics 4 months ago
Nish is correct that this song is about a nascent relationship, but no women were involved with the creation of this song. As others have said George is gay and this is about him being in love with a man who was not ready to be involved in an open relationship with a man. When listened to, with this in mind, I think the whole ‘but remember this…’ section becomes much more clear.

Regardless of what the meaning he had in mind when he wrote the song, the sentiments expressed are universally applicable to any relationship regardless of the genders involved. It is brilliantly well done and, imo, the most beautiful song he has ever written...as well as the saddest, it still makes me cry every time I hear it.

That's normal, it's called cognitive bias. As you've gotten older you've had more experiences and seen more things and that colours the way you see new things. It's why, to bible thumpers, every song on here is about god in some twisted way.

Bobby Goldsboro – Honey Lyrics 2 years ago
I will agree that the song may be a little bit condecending and patronizing. It was, after all, written during a time when that was not an unusual way for a man to treat his 'little lady'. It may be archaic and slighly mysoginistic but it was not necessarily toxic.

I would also suggest you spend less time reading between the lines and actually read the lyrics. It never says he frequently laughed at her hurting herself. What it says is that he remembers ONE time when she ALMOST hurt herself.

Yes people with depression may cry, even for no reason, but people without depression cry too. If i were a stay at home wife and my husband came home unexpectedly and I were listening to this song he would definately catch me crying , possibly needlessly, because music is the one thing that can bring me to tears. For Honey it seems to have been sappy movies. Had Honey been sitting there watching Happy Days or Gilligans Island, I would be much more worried about her mental state than her crying over something that was intended to make emotional people cry.

The lyrics about the car I could easily imagine being a scene on Leave it to Beaver. He was trying to mess with her. Wrong? Maybe. But relationships are unique and while it's never happened to me I could easily see how that could be a married couples dynamic and way of playing to ease a stressful time.

I will commend you for stopping short of calling the man a monster. Yes, the puppy thing annoyed him. It would annoy me. That's called life. You get annoyed sometimes. Then, in retrospect, it becomes one of those moments that sticks with you and you wish to god that you were back there where that was the worst thing you had to live with. He is not selfish, he has flaws (i.e he is human).

The closest exposure I have ever had to depression was a bi polar ex, so my views are not coloured by the lens of it. If you can't say the same, you have my sympathy. But not everyone shares the same experience, and what one person gets from a certain lyric can be much different depending on those experiences.

Yes, except the name of the band is New Order, not New World Order and the title is not a reference to a secret society, let alone the occult. What the name does reference, as did the bands prior incarnation (Joy Division), was a phrase used by the Nazi's during WWII.

k.d. lang – Constant Craving Lyrics 2 years ago
I am shocked (and slightly saddened) that no one has yet commented, let alone down rated your comment. I can only assume it is due to fear of retaliation from a delusional fanatic. Regardless, to stand idle in the face of injustice is tantamount to committing injustice yourself and that is anathema to me.

The only person whose bedroom practices should ever concern you is yours. That you think you have some authority to weigh in morally about any other persons is ludicrous and nonsensical. Even had you such authority, this really isn't the forum for it.

More importantly, as disgusting as it is that someone would judge the work of a person (a person they do not even know) based off of their personal idelogy, it is even more repulsive for same said person to twist the message of that piece of work to suit their own self serving agenda.

P.S. You spelt your name wrong, the U should be after the N.

The Bolshoi – Sunday Morning Lyrics 2 years ago
One could be forgiven for just assuming a disdain for religion with a surface listen to this song. But I do not think it is as simple as that. Yes, the point of view is of one who was indoctrinated into a strict religion but it is not the point of view of the child, but that of the grown person looking back on what he got out of that experience.

It, to me, seems that what he was taught was to be religious on Sunday. That religion was a suit you wore one day of the week to show others how presentable you could be. The lines specifically say 'one day a week, we turn the cheek' and 'clean it up on Sunday morning'. The implication here is that the other six days you get a pass as long as you do what is expected and are appropriately contrite on the Sunday. That somehow saying I'm sorry one day a week absolves you for perpetual horrid behaviour as a life choice.

The lines 'it's wrong to feel, it's wrong to care' followed by the 'you must not steal, you must not swear' reinforce that as they say it's okay to be selfish and not care about others as long as your outward actions do not go against the group. A disjoint between what you feel inside and how you present yourself to society. The difference between having a solid moral system and simply following the laws.

I do not see this as a rejection of religion but a rejection of religious dogma and hypocrisy. People should do good because it is the right thing, not because it's what others want. It should also be a way of life, not a show you make on Sunday morning.

The Clash – Know Your Rights Lyrics 2 years ago
No, the lyric is as it is (i.e. food money). What he is saying is that in a rich country no-one should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from. The point he is trying to make is that while there is welfare for the poorest citizens, the cost of that, life saving, benefit may not be as easy as you might think. To be accepted for these programs you must give up what little privacy and even then the system can be very humiliating. Not just what the government does to you but also the way that many people look down on those who need a helping hand. The rehabilitation is a reference to schooling, job training, et cetera to make you a contributing member of society, rather than what most people on welfare are looked at as....non-contributing takers.

Chris Rea – Fool (if You Think It's Over) Lyrics 2 years ago
It seems very possibly that this was written for his little sister, but the song seems to be about perspective. Specifically the lack of it the first time your heart is broken.

The first time your heart is truely broken can be the most difficult one. Partially because it is a new experience and, I think, more so because that most of us go through this when we are still young and innocent and inexperienced and we tend to be totally committed to the relationship lasting forever. Which makes it all the more difficult when it just ends.

As we get older and more disillusioned, and our hearts have taken more and more pain and heartbreak, we tend to lower our expectations and prepare ourselves for the reality that each new opportunity also brings with it the possibility of another heart break.

Thus, the perspective of multiple relationships ending allows us to know that it is not the end of the world when one does. Despite how it may seem that first time.

Gilbert O'Sullivan – Alone Again (naturally) Lyrics 2 years ago
The phrase 'who wouldn't do' is English for the American phrase 'like everyone else would' and he is inserting that thought into the thought of his upcoming marriage.

Another more wordy, and much less poetic, way of saying what he means is, 'I am looking forward getting married and can't wait to experience all of the wonderful experiences associated with being married, just like any other normal person would.'

The The – This Is the Day Lyrics 3 years ago
As many people have hit on, this song seems to be all about nostalgia.

The point of view strikes me as a person who has the epiphany that he is closer to the end than the beginning (which might prompt the beginning of a mid life crisis) of his life. I don't think the man is excessively rich, but according to his "friend and family" he is well off. Regardless of any accomplishments, he has been waiting for something (or someone) and, while many seem to think this song is optimistic, I think that the statement that "this is the day your life will surely change" is filled with facetiousness.

He has finally realized, which is why the lack of sleep, that that time is past and that it's not going to happen. He is not young anymore and his dream(s) are going to remain just that. This could be a possible reference to the plane. He can see what it is (in his mind), but it is too far away to actually touch it.

I find the placement of this track to on the album, just after 'I've been Waiting for Tomorrow (All of My Life)' to be very telling. In that track he was in young adulthood and waiting for life to start and for this thing to happen. It was always going to happen tomorrow. In this song that thing has not yet happened and he realizes that tomorrow is now yesterday.

As for the upbeat tune of the song, I think it is a purposeful counterpoint to the depressing nature of the lyrics. (e.g. 'Girlfriend in a Coma' by the Smiths.)

Communication lost
I am free of disguise
'Cause you are getting lost

We get together
Nothing matters
Situations like these I never like to miss

We get together
Nothing matters
Situations like these I never like to miss

Day by day
And night by night
I see them laughing all the time

It's hard for you
Wish something new
But try to ignore it isn't true

We get together, nothing matters
Situations like these I never like to miss

We get together, nothing matters
Situations like these I never like to miss

We get together, nothing matters
Situations like these I never like to miss

We get together, nothing matters
Situations like these I never like to miss

Situations like these I never like to miss

We get together, nothing matters
Situations like these I never like to miss

We get together, nothing matters
