The Rolling Stones – Jig-Saw Puzzle Lyrics 5 years ago
"I'm just trying to do my jigsaw puzzle
Before it rains anymore"

I think this is the methaphor for life. The guy sees the world going completely off the hook crazy. It reflects the chaos inside him. He understands that crazy 60s world no more than he understands himself.

He is trying to get a breather and figure out himself. How all the pieces fit together (jigsaw puzzle).

Another pattern here is the way he lists all the misfits and fuckups in society in the first half of the song. Relating to them and talking about them with tenderness almost...

The Who – Whiskey Man Lyrics 6 years ago
I love this song. Fresh and playful yet somewhat dark humour.

The Who – Go To The Mirror Lyrics 6 years ago
@[Ashtray:1564]-girl I think it's pretty clear it's Tommy. Since it follows the words "What is happening in his head?" . And I think that he adresses himself or respectively his reflection in the mirror. That's why I love reccurence of this theme in the end. After Tommy is rejected by his followers he returns to his "See me, feel me, touch me, heal me" mantra realising than even in his newly found awarness he is jsut as lonely and isolated as he was in his previous state. The end of album itself is very cathartic becouse than Tommy realises that he doesn'T need any followers and fans but that he only needs to be his own follower and fan. Once again he feels captivated by his own self as he did before looking in the mirror. At least that is my take

David Bowie – Moonage Daydream Lyrics 7 years ago
This song is about sex, plain and simple.

The Beatles – Dig a Pony Lyrics 9 years ago
Really listen to this song once. There's no point in trying to interpret this one. The warm mellow melody acompanied by highly relaxed voice. All the verses just spontainly express feeling in the moment, there's nothing more to it. No self-censoring, no forcing form or meaning on it.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show – Science Fiction/Double Feature Lyrics 9 years ago
This requires some heavy vintage Sci-Fi knowledge to understand. I consider myself nerd And I get like 40% og these at best.
Josefupu3: Triffid were plants engineered to be the source of cheap nutrition. Downside of that was that their were able to walk and hit you with poisonous spikes and kill you. After most of humanity got blinded by military probe, Triffids got out of their breeding facilities and spread over the globe. (Day of the Triffids)

Cream – White Room Lyrics 10 years ago
I know people are usually to quick to come with some intepretation involving drugs. But the feeling I get from this song is that the guy is in withdrawal or comedown from something bad.

Pink Floyd – The Show Must Go On Lyrics 10 years ago
You get a very strong sense of weariness and regret from this song. In some point in your life you are tired of putting on mask for the sake of outer world. You are tired and washed out and all you want to do is go home (not ment as physical place but more as a concept, a place where you are safe and free of all the worries of the hostile enviroment out there)

David Bowie – Space Oddity Lyrics 10 years ago
Major tom goes up in space and there he is stunned by the beauty of it all. Infinity of it. Yet the man on the radio is bugging him about something as petty as manufacturer of his shirt. He realises how much is everything going on down there on earth petty, mundane, everyday, and unimportant. He decides to let go. To let go of everything. He has found his peace. He no longer cares for anything else but simply being. Nothing really matters to him anymore. He shuts down all the instruments on board and panicky "Can you hear me major tom!" from operator down there is barely worth his answer. Up there where no one can reach him. He's free from all the tasks, orders, deadlines, bills that people are forced to deal with on everyday basis. He chooses to be free of all the burdens and all the worries of life. Perfectly content and at peace.....

Bob Dylan – Things Have Changed Lyrics 11 years ago
Somebody here has aleready notiCed the pararell to Times the are a changin. I see it a bit different way though. Times the are a changin is expressing hope, sense of rightness and positive attitude about future universal to major part of society during 60s. This seemes to me like an expression of failed hopes. Instead of world becoming a better place for us all it turned to shit and this nearly expresses the dissapointment

Bob Dylan – Mr. Tambourine Man Lyrics 11 years ago
What I find interesting is this song is very soothing and calming. Makes ma wanna sleep. Sometimes when I can't sleep I listen to this song and sometimes I even pass out in the chair.

Gerry Rafferty – Baker Street Lyrics 11 years ago
I find this part of the lyrics most interesting:

"Another year and then you'll be happy
Just one more year and then you'll be happy
But you're cryin'
You're cryin' now"

It's about living for the future. You think: it sucks now, but it's gonna be better as soon as I get out of school/move away/get married etc.... Never actually realizing that in the moment it happens you don't feel a bit more happy and you just find some different point in the future lying yourself that this is it. False hope.
