The Cowboy Junkies – Anniversary Song Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Reminds me of a poem by Saul Williams I drew him like a bath then sat and soaked watching the bubbles disappear as a ring around the tub gave us the age of trees Happy Anniversary, Babe I wear your ring |
Bob Dylan – Idiot Wind Lyrics | 13 years ago |
The masochist in me has listened to this song about 2000 times this past year. It feels like he is puncturing my heart and I feel searing pain. And I am addicted to it. I LOVE THIS SONG. |

Lucinda Williams – Bus To Baton Rouge Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I once dreamed of moving to Paris with an old BF. When I told him about it he replied, "Paris is in flames, baby". So I picked myself up and dusted myself off and decided, well, why don't we then simply move to french speaking cajun country? I thought of New Orleans but remembered that it was destroyed by that wicked rain "Hurricane Kat". And didn't Barbara (not Kate) Bush say that everyone is better off because of it? What a crazy old bat. Anyway, I then thought that he and I could take the bus to Baton Rouge. I had such a lovely dream of this life. It was like "heaven on earth" as they say. What happened to that dream? SAME EXACT thing as the person above me. Only I escaped at the last second with my scorched, shredded, spent NUB of a soul. I've decided no more dreaming in French. I'm gonna Viva La Vida. |
Blitzen Trapper – Furr Lyrics | 13 years ago |
This song reminds me of a poem by one of my favorite poets, Saul Williams. I have faith in who you are becoming in who you are you are the wolf having run through a stream (or a storm) to stand on a mountain peak dripping wet |
Grateful Dead – China Doll Lyrics | 13 years ago |

Queen – Don't Try Suicide Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I don't know if I know anyone who has ever tried to commit suicide. It makes me sad that someone would feel so hopeless about life. Tomorrow is a new day. If you are someone who has tried suicide or feels suicidal, you need to remember that you have loads of people who love you and give a damn. And that bit about not getting into heaven is SUCH a crock of shit. |

Van Morrison – Listen To The Lion Lyrics | 13 years ago |
The other day I was listening to "Too Late To Stop Now" and this song. All this SOUL business reminded me of my favorite poem by Walt Whitman. "A Noiseless Patient Spider". I'm not going to type it out because I recently lost an eye in a tragic accident. Check it out yourselves because it is beautiful. Love this song! |

My Morning Jacket – The Way That He Sings Lyrics | 13 years ago |
My appreciation of music has always been visceral. In the past, I've been able to listen to a song once and have a good grasp on the lyrics and a basic understanding of the meaning. Well, this year I actually tried to dissect a song or two. I learned that sometimes there really is a much deeper meaning behind certain songs than I had realized. I grew so much from stepping out of my comfort zone into unknown territory. Still, I'm no intellectual. This song describes how I am "hard-wired". It's just the way that he sings, not the words that he says, or the band, I'm in love with this soul, it's a meaning that I understand. Sometimes you just can't explain WHY you have a connection to the music. It's a beautiful mystery. |
