Personally I think any song that makes people realise or even think about their actions on others can only have a positive effect. I think he is saying that ultimately it is your choice as whether or not to take your life, but realise that it is the last thing that anybody around you would hope to happen and would do anything to avoid. Let somebody know that there is a problem and don't suffer alone.
rxchy, you think that the message of the song is disgusting? The whole point of it isn't that anyone should be "made to live an unhappy life just because they don't want to disappoint those around them" but try to get some help. Again, just my opinions but I know that at your darkest hour, there is always somebody to talk to, to confide in.
