Tori Amos – Hoochie Woman Lyrics 14 years ago
Great song, would have even fit in on the Under the Pink album. This song to me, represents freedom and not needing a man to justify who you are.

"I went to work and the office girls
were all burning their poetry
It wasn't good but in the neighborhood
now they're all just hoochie women"

To me this could mean not being romantic girls anymore, burning their romance in favor of money and material things (Barney's fourth floor). It may also mean that the majority of female musicians have stopped writing their music and have changed themselves (shallow music, sexy clothes, MTV) to appeal to the masses (to be the next Britney Spears).

Love, love, love this song! The intereptations are great. Personally this song to me represented a girl about to marry but she feel pressured and internally doesn't really want to marry. Everyone says she has a great guy but she feels there is better out there. But after I read daneypops intereptation the song makes more sense.

The first verse starts it off:
"How can I be drunk?
You strike with dry poison
I am possessed
Still engaged in some kind of advanced shackling"

How can I be drunk...drunk in love, she's not in love.

You strike with dry poision...there is no liquid no substance, dry poision no mushy lovey feelings.

Tori Amos – Bachelorette Lyrics 14 years ago
I think this song is not about wanting to be single, the person wanted to marry someone but it just didn't happen that way so she has adjusted to being a bachelorette (which makes her lonely at times) but one day that will change..

"...you even remembered his name!

Bachelorette, the braves you painted pink for
Bachelorette, you tried to show him that he can
but you can never rush a man "

Tori Amos – 1,000 Oceans Lyrics 14 years ago
To me this song is about love and loss. The loss can be a break-up of some sort or death, I indentify it more with death.

"well i can't believe that i would kep
keep you from flying
and i would cry 1000 more if that's
what it takes to sail you home
sail you home sail you home "

I believe this has to do with mourning, crying over someone you have lost and not being able to get over it and the spirit of the deceased not being able to travel to the other dimension because they feel that they cn not leave thier their loved one(s) who are so heartbroken over their loss.

"i'm aware what the rules are
but you know that i will run
you know that i will follow you
over silbury hill through the solar field
you know that i wil follow you "

This verse to me means that the mourner is slowly accepting the death of that person, the "rules" being that they are in different dimensions, one is alive and one has transcended to the spirit world.

"and if i find you will you still remember
playing at trains
or does this little blue ball
just fade away
over silbury hill through the solar field
you know that i will follow you
i'm aware what the rules are
but you know that i will run
you know that i will follow you "

One day the mourner will die but wonders if the deceased will be there, will remember them when they travel to the other side. We really don't know what happens when we die, do we reincarnate immediately do we wait, so this could just be the mourner wondering.

"these tears i've cried
i've cried 1000 oceans
and if i'm floating
in the darkness
well i can't believe that i would keep
keep you from flying
and i will cry 1000 more if that's
what it takes to sail you home
sail you home sail you home "

The last part to me just means that they are still in mounrning and sad and they wish that their tears could change back everything and that person would be alive again.

I always thought this song was about her daughter (sung to her husband).

You're surrounded by an army of two
Who adore you.
