Okkervil River – Get Big Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i always thought the girl was meant to have bipolar... |
Okkervil River – Just Give Me Time Lyrics | 14 years ago |
yeah thats true he doesn't tend to write about himself, but i think he did more often in their ealier work (like this ep) and he just hides them. certainly in the 3 most recent albums he writes about fictional characters. its a beautiful song. i've heard travis nelson say in an interview that this is his all-time favourite song by okkervil river. i find it really lulling, sort of meditative, this song helps me get to sleep... the repitition of that line just sounds so pleading and oh i just love will to death |
Modest Mouse – Blame It on the Tetons Lyrics | 14 years ago |
"blame it on the web but the spider's your problem now" i love that its like, everyone just stop carrying on about who's fault the situation is, and deal with the problem itself. kinda like the ridiculous climate change blame game, while no one actually does anything about it |
Modest Mouse – March Into the Sea Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i always thought it was "like the rats in the fleet" instead of "like the rats and the fleas", although both kind of make sense. 'fleet' references the nautical theme of the whole album though |
Mint Royale – Dancehall Places Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i think its "we'll be back to running races" |
Okkervil River – Yellow Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i love the way every other song by will is so indirect, rich with metaphors, hidden meanings, and almost cryptically poetic, and then this song is so beautifully simple and direct |
Okkervil River – The Next Four Months Lyrics | 14 years ago |
and the kid died |
Okkervil River – The Latest Toughs Lyrics | 14 years ago |
"to feel their feelings flash and finally fade away in one fabulous and fiery display" the alliteration in this song is amazing. |
Okkervil River – Unless It's Kicks Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i'm aware that will's voice is not the 'best', but i wouldnt want anyone else singing his songs. his voice suits his music perfectly and he delivers the emotion the way only he can |
Okkervil River – So Come Back, I Am Waiting Lyrics | 14 years ago |
in terms of lyrics, i think this is one of will's greatest masterpieces. along with in a radio song, a stone, the latest toughs, our life is not a movie, listening to otis redding, starry stairs... |
Okkervil River – A Favor Lyrics | 14 years ago |
my favourite line is ''but how can i change my body?" the desperation and emotion in will's voice is incredible |
Okkervil River – On Tour with Zykos Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i love the way the will's tone of voice in this song is really sincere, sorrowful and pained, but pay attention and you realise the words he is speaking are actually full of sarcasm and bitterness, for example: "Hey, thanks John Go sings songs, go rock on Roll your crew on down the road To the next sold out show ... So, I wonder who you got your hooks in tonight Was she happy to be hooked and on your arm? Did she feel alive? Her head all light" |
Okkervil River – No Key, No Plan Lyrics | 14 years ago |
does the 'hosed' bit refer to being drunk? |
Okkervil River – The Next Four Months Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i think the bit about 'little michael' means they actually accidentally left a toddler in the car on a hot day, with the windows rolled up... maybe their kid or something |
Okkervil River – Just Give Me Time Lyrics | 14 years ago |
can someone please suggest what this song could mean? i have no idea but i love it the only clue i have is that before playing it live will once said 'im now going to sing a song about my ex girlfriend...' |
