Big Wreck – Ohh My Lyrics 14 years ago
I think he's talking to a woman who's putting words in his mouth, and isn't giving him a chance to speak the truth. "Oh My, Who's stolen my right?" Sounds like he's shocked at what she's saying, then wondering why he's lost his right to talk.

"When your arms go around another.. Well I'll turn my back why bother" - Woman has cheated, perhaps?

"Well I've made my mistakes and know it, And I need a chance to blow it" - Looking for a way out of the relationship?

I think this woman is accusing him of false accusations and he's getting sarcastic about the situation.

Big Wreck – Waste Lyrics 14 years ago
It does sound like alcoholism. The alcoholic is upset with Ian's efforts to stop them from doing what they love ("I know you got roses, You want to throw on my grave"). He doesn't want them to hurt anymore ("I'd rather see you hit me"), but he's out of ideas ("I was wasted at the fork roads, I'm too old to run"), and all of the alcoholics reasons are weak for quitting ("Words and excuses lame"). All Ian feels he can do is "Leave" and/or "Bleed" for his friend.

Big Wreck – Fall Through The Cracks Lyrics 14 years ago
A man constantly going back to a woman he knows will only break him down, yet he keeps returning to her for some reason not mentioned in the lyrics.

Big Wreck – How Would You Know Lyrics 14 years ago
The one story I'm getting when I read the lyrics is that there is a prostitute who won't leave him alone. And she can sense that he's single/alone because she sees him often. Haha. It's not like me to think like this, but that's all I can come up with.

"Hold out your hands, Oh such little hands"
Talking to the woman, could possibly mean she hasn't worked hard in life, or saying "Hold out your hands" so I can pay you.

"Lie to your man, Stay wise to the plan"
Referring to a pimp, then telling the woman to do her job and find another man who is actually interested in her.

"I want you in the wrong way", "There's your dealer on the corner", "Cuz what you got is what you need", "So you need me for the wrong things"... Just read the lyrics, haha. Only my interpretation, I could be way off.

Big Wreck – Overemphasizing Lyrics 14 years ago
The short and sweet story of a relationship that did not end well. The first and last lines, being the same, I believe wrap up the idea of this story Ian is telling.

"Once was a man... a rage, All foreign tales onstage" - This line is him telling what most people have heard and know about this relationship. "Onstage" to say that it's in the spotlight for everyone to see.

"It turns a page" - This is a fascinating metaphor to say "Now here is my interpretation because you haven't heard my side of the story yet."

He then goes on to emphasize the point that this girl was "Overemphasizing" the story of this relationship and blew it out of proportion. He proves himself not to be "Man who was a rage" because in fact this girl drove HIM out of the house, in verse 2 he claims, "I was removed."

Big Wreck – Look What I Found Lyrics 14 years ago
Sounds like a relationship that ended abruptly because Mr. Thornley found out his girlfriend's dirty little secret. In the chorus, "Keep your ears below the ground, Take a look around..." - I got the imagery of looking under the bed, where some like to hide things. It also seems through the verses that this girl feels no remorse but it actually proud of what she's done behind his back.

Big Wreck – The Oaf Lyrics 14 years ago
He doesn't mention or describe the title "Oaf" in the actual song, but the definition is a clumsy or stupid person.

My best guess is that Ian is talking about a relationship that just ended where he's left asking himself, "How did this person end up at my door/in my life?". The line, "Throw the rocks and break the glass" may refer to the saying, "Those who live in a glass house should not throw stones", which calls out someone for hypocrisy. Perhaps he's been saving himself for a great relationship and now that he encountered a bad one, he's not sure if his luck to find that good one has run out. Through the title, "The Oaf", he's probably thinking "Man, how stupid was I to be in that relationship".
