| Finally downloaded the new cd and this song was the first song i replayed after listening to the whole album. I think its talking about having high hopes in a town where noones really doing much with themselves and trying not to listen to friends when they try and put your dreams down. Im a senior in high school and this song really speaks to me because my town is straight shit and everyone is making plans to stay around after graduation while im buzy packing a backpack. | |

along with many other matchbox twenty's songs, i think this song is about deppression. more spesificaly apathy. "So please hand me the bottle, I think I'm lonely now and please give me direction, I think the hurt set in and I don't feel nothing" i think this means that he feels he is lost so he's looking to alcohol for a short term escape, and he knows he should be more upset than he actually is but he cant feel "nothing". being apathetic. i love this song and it means alot to me but that is just my interpetation |

this song is definitly about depression, and i feel like hes trying to let someone know that he has depression and they're just blowing it over, thinking hes over dramatic or something. in the chorus when it says :I'm not crazy I'm just a little unwell I know right now you can't tell But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see A different side of me (the person doesnt see his depression at all and doesnt think they'll understand) I'm not crazy I'm just a little impaired I know right now you don't care ( they just dont understand) |

this song is about wanting to be more than friends with a certain woman and her not returning the love, so to say. in the first verse, he tells her that he likes her and she responds with saying she doesnt want a relationship. " i'll lie too and say i dont mind" meaning he'll go along and agree thats what he wants to. "as we seek so shall we find" meaning now he's kinda bummed because he shouldnt have asked if he wasnt prepared for that answer. And when you're feeling open I'll still be here but not without a certain degree of fear of what will be with you and me; I still can see things hopefully" means he's not giving up quite yet and knows she'll come around eventually. The chorus is simple saying she keeps giving him hints that she likes him but then not forfilling it, and its just confusing the fuckk out of him, he cant move on and doesnt want to move on because theres still hope in a realationship because she keeps sending him all these mixed msgs. 2nd verse, he just goes on about how fake hollywood is but with this girl he doesnt want that at all, "And Hollywood's calling for the movie right singing :hey babe let's keep in touch, hey baby let's keep in touch. But I want more than a touch I want you to reach me and show me all the things no one else can see" And Finally the last verse is he goes on to say how now shes deneying this realtionship more and more but "It seems my ship still stands no matter what you drop and there ain't a whole lot that you can do" he is going to be persistant, and then theres the metaphore about fate obviously, and lastly "Well all right okay,so be that way, i hope and pray that there's something left to say" this girl is finally is done playing games and tries to get the message across, and he's just praying it doesnt have to end hence the "hope theres something left to say" and then with the chorus, so was this last shut down just another mind game of this girl, he wonders |
