This song has absolutely nothing to do with getting stoned. This whole album was wriiten while Rick White and Julie Doiron were broken up (while keeping it a secret from the band) and all of it is about Rick cheating on Julie (with a woman named Tara) and this song is specifically about how it changed everything. |

I think this song is so beautiful. And it fits in so much better with the rest of the album than you might expect. The whole album is stunningly beautiful and amazing and the story is tragic, but this may be one of my favorite songs. |

Diazepam is a type of tranquilizer, so this song seems to be about someone who is addicted to tranquilizers, possibly? It makes sense when I look at the lyrics with that idea in mind. I'm not sure if that's right, though. |

The line "I'm so lonely I don't even want to be with myself anymore" is my favorite. It's really hard to get to that level of loneliness, but I've been there, more than I'd like to admit. This song is hauntingly beautiful and sad. One of my favorites from the album. |

It's about a dream. He's having an amazing dream, and he never wants to wake up in reality, because he can't have the person that he wants. That's what the "for everything to stop hurting" line is about. He wants to keep sleeping, because everything is beautiful when he's sleeping, but when he's awake, it's just pain. |

This song is about the whole idea that though people may die, love never does. Somebody very close to him died, possibly due to the government, and he still loves that person, even though they're gone. The first verse is describing how it seems like everything is ending because he lost that person. But he'll never FULLY lose them. |

This song is about somebody with an issue with trust, so they build walls up that people have to try to get through to really connect with that person and build that trust. It definately isn't about God. I understand if that's what the song personally means to some people, but 10 Years is not a religious band. Most of their songs are about emotional and mental issues and problems in the world, and relationships. One of the most honest bands I know... |
