Nellie McKay – The Portal Lyrics 5 years ago
A haunting song of lost love. Shattering.

Aimee Mann – Frankenstein Lyrics 5 years ago
I think the song is remarkably applicable to internet relationships, where the 2 people have not met in real life, so they fill in the blanks using their imagination/idealization, leading to problems down the line (villagers with pitchforks and torches).

Just like Frankenstein’s monster isn’t a “real” man but just something that looks like one l, neither is your image of a person constructed solely of internet interactions.

Boy – Railway Lyrics 6 years ago
I think it’s about someone who has just broken up with their significant other. They’re driving away (halfway to their new destination - either physically or metaphorically). The breakup was a bad one- that’s why the Ickes remind them of their ex. But they’re not quite emotionally over the person. Thoughts linger. Heart is still engaged...

Boy – This Is The Beginning Lyrics 6 years ago
@[nba1341:24760] not sure it’s about cohabitation- i don’t see the references to 2 people in the song. I think it’s about a person moving to a new town and starting their life fresh.

Michael Penn – No Myth (Romeo in Black Jeans) Lyrics 14 years ago
Andrea's analysis seems pretty on point to me. I'd add that I kind of got the impression that the conversation referred to at the begining was taking place after they'd finally had sex for the first time. And it's the morning after, and he's thinking that now they will have that deep relationship, but she just says "it's time to go" and he's thinking that all she wants is someone to dance/have sex with.
