Husky – Hunter Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Come now sister don't you wait for the sky to clear I have never seen it rain so truly Let's find somewhere to sleep this bus stop's sinking like a pier They can wait till morning or a week, or two I came here not for love but for the possibility Of setting free the love we knew for all of time Don't you remember I said that I would not forget Your memory is safe with me And you're heavenly The strangest things come to me in my sleep Climb the rolling hills ever so steep And I dont recognize you, nor you me Still we know each other so well I will be the hunter and you can light the fire Keep it burning until I return as darkness falls I'll prove it in time to you ooooooooh x4 All the way to whaler's cove, the country side and me Every little thing still in its place If it were that I was where I thought that I would be Surely I would know it in my bones I came here not for love but for the possibility Of setting free the love we knew for all of time Don't you remember that I said that I would not forget Your memory is safe with me And you're heavenly The only thing I know is I'm not sure Where I left the keys to all the doors And now that I am here I dont know why Everybody looks the same I will be the hunter and you can light the fire Keep it burning until I return as darkness falls I'll prove it in time to you ooooooooh x4 ----------- I'm not sure on the end of the "Keep it burning" line. It's really hard to hear. What I have there is the only thing that makes even a little bit of sense. There's definitely the "oov" sound though. |
Death Cab for Cutie – I Will Follow You Into the Dark Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I like this interpretation, but I don't think it's that complicated, or that it has anything to do with religion (directly). His teacher told him that fear is the heart of love, and he rejects that notion. That's essentially what that verse boils down to. This fits in with the rest of this song because the main thrust of the song is soothing fears. He's saying don't be afraid, I'm going to be with you, etc. "It's nothing to cry about." He's defining his love, and he is going out of his way to emphasize that fear should have no part in it. |
Silversun Pickups – The Royal We Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Posted lyrics are way off, and even the "official" lyrics from the SSPU website are wrong. This, I'm fairly certain, is correct: ======================================= We are ready for the siege We are armed up to the teeth Be careful how you live and breathe Release what's brewing underneath How many times do you want to die? How many ways do you want to die? To feel safe again look over your shoulder Very carefully look over your shoulder We can laugh about it now We hope everything works out Be careful how you lick your wounds Believe the change is coming soon How many times do you want to die? How many ways do you want to die? To feel safe again look over your shoulder Very carefully look over your shoulder You used to do a little but a little wont fly Right before you hit your prime That's when we fell in love but not the first time Can it please you still Renaming your father's will Or does it make you ill? Let us bruise their knees We will aim straight for the feed You will be relieved So relieved, so relieved Turn on full desire Feel the sparks to the friendly fire Misery inspires Your throat has been cut Several times before Never noticed the size of the flow It can't be ignored To feel safe again look over your shoulder Carefully look over your shoulder You said you believed it but believing wont fly And right before you hit your prime That's when we fell in love but not the first time And when it's all over and you open your eyes To see the room turned on it's side You'll be lying by a note on the floor signed... ...the royal we The royal we The royal we The royal we The royal we The royal we The royal we The royal we Love, the royal we ======================================= What's kind of eerie, though, is if you listen to the line "Renaming your father's will", but expect to hear "Renamed in your father's will," you will HEAR that "d" at the end of "renamed." But if you expect to hear "Renaming," it will sound just like that, with no trace of that voiced alveolar stop (though at that speed, it's more like a flap/tap). It's like that optical illusion with the silhouette of the dancer, and if you take it for granted she is spinning clockwise, she will look like she's spinning clockwise, but if you decide she's spinning counter-clockwise, she will instead look like she's spinning counter-clockwise. Very weird. In this case, I defer to the band's official lyrics. |

@rottingcorpse23 I hate to say the official SSPU site is wrong, but, well...it's wrong. For one thing, it says "injuries inspire" and that is simply not possible. It's obviously "misery inspires." Maybe an early lyric that got changed later? Who knows what else is different? Either way, the original lyrics up top are way, way off. |

The only problem is they are wrong about their own song. They clearly say "misery inspires," not "injuries inspire," for one. Who knows what else might be wrong. I definitely agree with "your throat has been cut" instead of "you're throwin' me cuts" though. |
The Decemberists – The Wanting Comes in Waves/Repaid Lyrics | 15 years ago |
"How it precedes you like a black smoke, oh" I could be wrong (I've misplaced my CD case recently), but it seems to me this line is: "How it precedes you like a black smoke pall" A pall is "anything that covers, shrouds, or overspreads, esp. with darkness or gloom." That certainly fits with the context of these first couple of stanzas, and after listening to it several times, I'm pretty sure I hear "pall." |
