I take it back...I just saw them live and I can honestly say that until I saw that show I didn't truly know what selling out was. I'm all for bands making money and a living, but is it really worth it to reinvent yourself just to be more media friendly? I left after their set feeling more than a little depressed that one of my favourite bands could sink so low. Their entire set list came from New Wave, which is an album that I can't help but see the irony in now. I still can't believe they'd make almost an entire album about selling out and the repetitive trash on the radios, then turn around and peddle it out to the impressionable youths that can't help but find this crap compelling. I still look forward to hearing more from them in the future, let's just hope they go back and take some cues from the original Against Me! and leave this shit out of the studios from now on.

Against Me! – Stop! Lyrics

Personally, I don't like this song all that much but I hardly think producing a song that they can play on the radio makes them sell-outs. I like their old albums better, hell this is my least favourite song even on the new album, but maybe there's a reason it always plays on the radio? God forbid they want to make a little bit of money. I find it refreshing that good bands can find a place in all the mainstream shit that gets fed through the radio stations every day. Maybe someone will hear this and decide to give the rest of their songs a listen. Maybe they'll show their friends what good music sounds like. Maybe if more people take a page out of Against Me!'s book we could turn the population onto music that takes a shred of talent and intelligence to make. I even like the new sound, not as much as the old but still enough to keep Against Me! on my favourites list. Open your minds a little bit.
