When I hear this song I think of my Father, don't get me wrong he was a nice person... ONCE a hell of a long time ago. Well now we never see eye to eye any more and we have differenet beliefs now. For the past 4 years we have been fighting and fighting... till I've been blue in the face cause I wasn't gonna put up with his bullying so when I was 18 I started couch surfing and I told them I wanted to move out so they shipped me 3 hours away from everyone I've ever known and I movied back home 9months later and a month after that I started couch surfing again, now I'm out of home again but I did it the way I wanted to but today within 5mins my Father offended me, degraded me and some of my mates, told me I can't go out drinking or to gigs and kicked the cat. But I feel (for me) that this song is about me telling my Father to get fucked! Could you look me in the eye? - I doubt he can look me in the eye anymore Would you tell it to my face or have I been erased - he has replaced me a few times and I feel like the daughter he wish he never had and he can't tell me that. Are you happy now? - this is what I wanna ask him when I'm writing films, publishing books and doing what I want and I'm not a 'big big big disapointment to him' and I haven't spoken to him for years... When I hear this song it makes me cry cause I'm going through an on going battle with my parents. They want me to be a nurse and I tried it just wasn't for me and I've told them I want to do what I want be but they won't listen and if they knew the really me they would disown me because I'm everything they never wanted. It feels like they want to tear me down and not surport me in my dream of working in film and script writing, I've moved out of home twice and I still have trust issuse with them telling me lies and saying lies about me behind my back to my friends. I love this song and every time I hear it I think of Cassie and Thelma from a BBC tv show called HEX. Thelma and Cassie live at a borading school and they are best mates, *We wanted to find love We wanted success* Thelma is a lesbian and is in love with Cassie and being good friends isn't enough for her and she knows that Cassie fells the same about her. I love this song. Saturday night me and me mate, Rhiannon was at a party and we didn't get home till late and we pulled an all nighta. So had a few jim's in our systems and watching GO, this song came on(a few times). But we both believe its about someone (Kate) had lost a lover of someone who was there for her, they died or just left. She is preg or she lost the child when she lost her person of support or she lost it due to the emotions stress of losing this person. We got the whole baby thing from the video, if you watch it she gently cluches her tummy. And it is xmas and she is all alone(notice the tree and the decos) in the video.. Its a really sad song, but I love it. |

When I first heard this song my Mum was driving me home from the hospital about 4am. I had been out drinking with some people who I thought were my mates, they spiked my drink with ice and they dragged me across the road to where was staying with other mates. Ok yeah I posted these lyrics because these guys are a local Melbourne/Ballarat(Australian) band and they are my 2nd fave band of all time and you can find them on myspace. To me this song helped me get through 8months of living on my own 3hours away from everyone I know in a s**t whole of a town called Horsham or Whore-Shack! But every 2nd week I'd wait till my money was in the bank and I'd walk to the servo at about 2 or 3am to get a hot meat pie and an energy drink. I would blair all my Girl Vs Ghost songs on my iPod walking the poorly lit back street. And this one stood out most because of; 'And this town died from some kind of disaster...' It felt that way because it was dark and the olny living people were truckers passing through And I really love 'The doctor is baffled, the hospital's worse they can't find your heart and they can't find the curse so tell me, tell me, tell me I'm the ghost of your regret who sneaks into your bed and puts those thoughts into your head like, "I am one of a kind"' Mostly cause I really am 'one of a kind' and lol its kinda silly but when I was in yr10 bio I couldn't find my heart and nun of my mates could. I agree with kikikittykat, it make sence. This song has a Melbourne underground club feel to it with lines: 'Black dress with the tights underneath...' (kikikittykat covered this line) 'X's on the back of your hands...' is the pass out of the club. Ok the really catchy line(the whole song is catchy but his really catches me) 'Shush girl, Shut your lips. Do the Helen Keller and talk with your hips...' Who is Helen Keller??? Hellen Keller was burn in the late 1800s, she was bind, deaf and dumb, being the late 1800s her family didn't know what to do wih her so they chained her up outside like a dog. Till one day a woman bought Hellen from her family and found a way to talk wit Hellen by touch and movent So he is saying "Girl! Be blind, deaf and dumb" Don't get me wrong I love this song. But the video was the most daftest thing I've seen in ages, they could have done soooo much better. |
