Red Hot Chili Peppers – Scar Tissue Lyrics

Every song isn't about drugs. Every song isn't a personal confessional.
This one is about alienation involving fictional characters who have nothing to do with Anthony Kiedis.
Wondrous stuff, still. |

This song is about not selling out; being true to your craft.
He's talking about being a musician. That's what he is. The song is applicable to any craft, though. |

Bruce Springsteen – Tunnel Of Love Lyrics

Blue Monkey nailed the biggest part of this song.
Still, I get a religious feel from this one ... and I'm not the kind of guy who finds religious wisdom in unusual places. I sense that the Tunnel of Love is a reference to God's love. You may get lost, lose each other, but the tunnel can guide you. This entire album has religious overtones.
Great stuff. |

Bruce Hornsby – Walk in the Sun Lyrics

I don't think the guy in the song really has a relationship with this chick.
He wishes he did, but he's only a ticket-taker. Ain't happening. So he dreams about it and you hear about it in the song. |

Coldplay – Speed of Sound Lyrics

I think some of this song is nonsensical stuff that sounds good.
The song is urging someone to ignore the madness around them and find a more profound meaning.
If you're trying to make sense of "birds came flying from the underground," well, good luck. |

Coldplay – Fix You Lyrics

I think it's about looking down a path with someone who is troubled. They need inspiration. You think you can provide it. Is that what's supposed to happen? Is this the path? |

Nirvana – Rape Me Lyrics

It's about being "raped" in the media.
Not necessarily by the media itself. He sings: "My favorite inside source," which is a reference to a Rolling Stone article that referenced Kurt's odd behavior. The story attributed a lot of stuff to an "inside source." I've always assumed the source was Courtney Love. |
