Unknown Mortal Orchestra – Bicycle Lyrics 12 years ago
I love this song. I need some help with the lyrics though.

Das Racist – Fashion Party Lyrics 13 years ago
Mulberry, Paris with the Beijing crew

should be Mulberry, periwinkle, beige crew.

I think she is just listing off colors, though I'm not 100% sure on "beige crew"

Also, you're leaving out my favorite part....After "I'm wearing fashion fabrics everyone in fashion knows", in the background someone says "COTTON!"

Clues – Lets Get Strong Lyrics 13 years ago
I guess Bucky Littlewing isn't about Alden, I just blindly made that assumption. But I do still contend that this is about wanting to stay out of the public eye.

Starfucker – Laadeedaa Lyrics 13 years ago
This is one of my favorite Starfucker tunes. I think it's about how taking breaks in a relationships is not always a bad thing. You need to explore other possibilities to gauge your own situation. Very deep stuff.

Islands – The Drums Lyrics 13 years ago
I think this song is about Jamie and how him and Nick once lined their pockets with money during Unicorn times. Now Jamie is back and "asking only for a hit and asking nicely". Jamie came back, but he wants to be popular again. He wants another hit song.

Jamie literally is the drums.

Islands – Disarming the Car Bomb Lyrics 13 years ago
I like how you call the first poster shallow and then don't offer your own explanation to what the song means.

In my opinion the song is about the band Islands from the last record. Someone has told Nick (maybe the record label) that part of the reason the last record wasn't successful was because of the band members. "Uncross my Arms" is a reference to the last record 'Arm's Way' and uncrossing 'Arm's Way' is trying something new for the next album. Cutting the wires represents cutting every band member from Arm's Way under instruction of the record label or whatever voice is guiding Nick. He references how easy it was to do this, though he now regrets it.

Phish – AC/DC Bag Lyrics 14 years ago
The original lyrics were "AC/DC Fag". AC/DC is slang for a person who sexually experiments with both sexes. While this song is technically part of Gamehendge, as a stand alone it serves as a song about a man having a homosexual experience and is ashamed of it.

"I've got a feeling you know what you did"
Referring to being embarrassed about performing an act.

"I'm a stranger here I'm going down"
Refers to performing oral sex on another man.

"I'll show you mine if you show me yours"
Obviously about comparing members.

"I'm breathing hard - open the door"
Referring to the act of sodomy.

Trey and Mike have discussed openly in interviews how they experimented sexually with each other and other men and how they both consider themselves bisexual. It's also well know that a large percentage of Phish fans are very open about their sexuality. This song is a sort of an homage to the gay Phish fans of the world.

Starfucker – German Love Lyrics 14 years ago
I think it's just about the selectivity of German women. Make's 'em sexy.

Clues – Lets Get Strong Lyrics 14 years ago
I interpreted the last line as a response to Islands "Bucky Little Wing", which I always thought was about Alden. In other words post-Unicorns.

Animal Collective – The Purple Bottle Lyrics 14 years ago
"No Silence" just means that you can share a moment without someone, not doing anything and not be bored. I like it.

Islands – On Foreigner Lyrics 14 years ago
Referencing a record makes a lot more sense. I initially interpreted the line as, "Drive the needle in the groove" which I thought was drug related.

Islands – On Foreigner Lyrics 14 years ago
This is a great song. I'm not sure what it's about, but my guess would be shooting up just because of the needle hitting the groove reference.

I also know that Nick and Jamie are 'foreigners' to the US where they are doing most of their touring for this album. Besides that, they might be Foreigner fans since one of their old Unicorns songs was titled "Hot Blooded". Or maybe Nick feels like he can relate to the band Foreigner because of the number of band mates that keep coming in and out of the Islands.

Islands – Devout Lyrics 14 years ago
This is my favorite song on the album next to On Foreigner.

Literally it's about being a get-away driver in a robbery. Things go wrong on the inside. Alarms, explosions, casualties, violence. Instead of going inside to help his partner the driver flees and then eventually sells his accomplice out in order to protect himself.

Metaphorically this song is a reflection on a relationship gone bad. It's easy to point fingers once the relationship has fallen apart, but it takes two to make it work, just like the robbery scenario. I think this song is admitting that the other person put in just as much time and devotion to the relationship. The line, "Sold you out" is a way of saying that when things were at their worst, I was only looking out for myself.

Islands – No You Don't Lyrics 14 years ago
The cover of this album is really funny to me. Nick is ridiculous.

I think this song is about being caught in between friendship and drugs. It sounds like someone close to him has fallen head first into drugs and while he still has an open ear to this friend, he knows it's just the drugs talking.

Clues – Perfect Fit Lyrics 15 years ago
I think you did a great job. I transcribed this also, but was afraid I had too many mistakes to post it. Here's how mine is different (but not necessarily right)....

'And reclaim the name which sees you fit'
'Unknown treasure in the hull of you'
'And forget about your baroqueness (brokeness)' ??
'They want to take the crown away'
'200 years in ????' (still is unclear to me since he seems to stutter)
'I want your eyes, to set alight the sky' (I like your line better)

I posted the three easy songs already, but when I find time I'm going to try and get some more up.

Cut Copy – Future Lyrics 15 years ago
In my mind what makes this song great is that it seems to be from the vantage point of the man. He's romanticizing that this girl is out there reminiscing about him and about them. He sees her in a warm place with a golden sun.

It's the third person perspective that makes this song work.

Alden Penner – (Oh leopold) stop saying things that arnt true Lyrics 15 years ago
This would be a good one to learn. I've always loved this song and wondered who Leopold is.

I think the song speaks to the fragility of life and at the same time to the notion that it's entirely disposable.

Can somebody please fix the spelling in these lyrics?

You can find this song on yootoob. I'm not sure it has been released. It's more of an Alden song than a Unicorns toon.

The Unicorns – Evacuatin' Somethin' Warm Lyrics 15 years ago
There are two versions of this song and lyrically I think they are the same, but "Evacuatin Something Warm" has a cleaner sound than "Evacuate the Vacuous", which is a little bit more raw (which I like).

This song is about a one sided break-up. It was over for one person and the other can't believe it. But "Everything's OK in it's own little way"

I don't see this song as a disguise for anything, then again maybe it's about saving the rainforest.

The Unicorns – Peach Moon (EP Version) Lyrics 15 years ago
I always thought it was mystique not stink. Now I don't know.

I think it's a tune about a relationship gone (going) bad. Some say that opposites attract, but I read a study that in fact the longest lasting relationships are with couples who have a lot more in common with one another. But when have you ever met a couple of sames who don't overflow with boredom?

Kind of a parallel to the perfection of the Unicorns I guess, like a lot of their other songs.
