I misinterpreted this song until I saw the lyrics - I thought it was about a guy who was deeply in love with a girl, but she seemed to be a bit oblivious. It changes perspective from narrator to the boy in love, like when he "spoke the words of a gentelman" - he spoke to a girl he was deeply infatuated with. And he talks about how beautiful she is... I heard the lyrics like this, until I actually knew them: "So you took her hand and she gave a look, that sent you to the moon" was actually "So you took her hand and she gave you LOVE, that sent you to the moon". When someone 'takes you to the moon', doesn't it mean they were really good in bed? So they had really awesome sex that made him like her even more. "I built us a flying machine. And we'll go where you want, we'll sail the seven seas". I actually thought he said "It WON'T go where you want, but it'll sail the seven seas". By that I thought he meant that he would do anything for the girl he was singing to, but what he did just wasn't good enough. Even after that, he would still try by "sailing the seven seas". Anyways, when I hadn't seen the lyrics I interpreted them that way. Now that I know the story behind it and I know the proper lyrics the song makes much more sense. |

I think this song is about a very paranoid person in a relationship eg; "watch my back so I make sure, you're right behind me as before" -just making sure the partner is still there- Then "dry me eyes so you won't know", they're stressed and as franciscodanconia said, bipolar? "I know you're right behind me" It seems to me that they're very very worried about being left alone. |
