Lacuna Coil – Our Truth Lyrics 13 years ago
To me, this seems like someone who is lying for survival, someone who has to live a lie in order to be happy. They may not necessarily think it a lie themselves, but others might.

Kamelot – Necropolis Lyrics 13 years ago
Seems to me that this song is about the Cold War. It talks about the East side and the West side - either East and West Germany or Easter society versus Western society - and "the war to save democracy". The line "Every nation thanks you for putting down your arms" also supports my theory, for during the years of the Cold War, the world was terrified that a nuclear war would break out, effectively destroying the planet.

Engelbert Humperdinck – Everybody Knows Lyrics 14 years ago
I, for one, am surprised at Engelbert Humperdinck's use of the word "he". Am I just reading too much into things and/or misinterpreting, or does the use of "he" with a male singer not imply a relationship between the singer and "him"?

Kamelot – Descent of the Archangel Lyrics 14 years ago
Mephistopheles wasn't a demon so much as a fallen angel. He was the one who loved God the most, and therefore refused to bow down to the human race - his allegiance was to God alone. Because of that, God banished him.

t.A.T.u. – Loves Me Not Lyrics 15 years ago
What I find interesting is this particular part in the second chorus:

"He loves me.
He loves me not.
She loves me.
She loves me."

It seems to say that the girl sticks around to help the narrator through all of the problems with 'him'. And who knows? Perhaps she wins the narrator's heart in the end.

Disturbed – Divide Lyrics 15 years ago
True enough, I suppose. However, the song still makes an excellent point in the much-quoted line "So can you tell me what exactly does freedom mean if I'm not free to be as twisted as I wanna be?"

The entire song is a head-scratcher. For the most part, it's a dubious head scratch. That line is actually worthy of some reflection - a pensive head scratch.

My apologies for my incoherency. ^_^;;;

Disturbed – Perfect Insanity Lyrics 15 years ago
I could be completely wrong here, but I was almost sure that it was "I've only had the best of being sane".

"I've only had the best of me insane" just doesn't make any grammatical sense. Could someone please clarify this for me?

Pat Benatar – Hell Is For Children Lyrics 15 years ago
This song was groundbreaking. I admire Pat Benatar for having the courage to publish such a song. It shed ilght upon the topic of child abuse, which was NEVER talked about. Sure, people saw it happen, but they felt that "it wasn't their place to get into the affairs of others."

My thanks to you, Pat.

Breaking Benjamin – Evil Angel Lyrics 15 years ago
Hehe, oops. I forgot one part.

"No, don't leave me to die here.
Help me survive here alone.
Don't surrender.
Surrender."

The first two lines hold the same meaning as before. The 'don't surrender' is the main character knowing that the kindred spirit would want them to be strong, but, at the same time, the main character just can't handle what is going on around them and wants to give up.

Breaking Benjamin – Evil Angel Lyrics 15 years ago
Here is my humble and probably completely incorrect interpretation:

"Hold it together.
Birds of a feather.
Nothing but lies and crooked wings."

This verse sets the scene. The main character is struggling with the world around them. Through all of the lies and the evil that surrounds them, they find a soul mate or a kindred spirit.

"I have the answer.
Spreading the cancer.
You are the faith inside me."

The kindred spirit insists that they are not good for the main character. The main character will hear none of it, however, believing that the kindred spirit is a savior, of sorts. They are the main character's tie to sanity.

"No, don't leave me to die here.
Help me survive here alone.
Don't remember.
Remember."

The kindred spirit now must leave. The main character doesn't want them to, thinking they they won't be able to survive without them. The kindred spirit wants the main character to forget all of their shared experiences and move on, and the main character at the same time urges the kindred spirit to remember those experiences in an attempt to make them stay.

"Put me to sleep evil angel.
Open your wings evil angel."

The main character wants the kindred spirit to return, to use their influence over them to make their life dreamlike with happiness again.

"I'm a believer, nothing could be worse.
All these imaginary friends
Hiding betrayal,
Driving the nail,
Hoping to find a savior."

The main character still believes that the kindred spirit will one day return to them. That belief could not be worse for their mental health. The other friends that the main character thought they had are keeping things from them and doing other things to drive the nail of insanity and/or depression deeper and deeper into their heart. Those other friends ignore the main character's problems and still expect help with their own.

"Put me to sleep, evil angel.
Open your wings, evil angel.
Fly over me, evil angel.
Why can't I breathe, evil angel?"

Again, the main character desperately longs for the return of the kindred spirit. Even a mere glance would suffice. The main character finds the aloneness and misery brought on by the kindred spirit's absence so hard to bear that they can hardly breathe.

I hope I wasn't too far off the mark! This is my first song interpretation on this site, so I won't be overly surprised if I am.
