Eerie song... sad story. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_Children_of_the_Alleghenies |
Old Crow Medicine Show – Tennessee Pusher Lyrics | 10 years ago |
So you can rate my comment -1, but don't wanna discuss it? I see... |
The Avett Brothers – A Father's First Spring Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I love this song; there's a great version on youtube by crackerfarm of the Brothers singing this by the sea, so you should check it out. This song makes me wanna be a dad. |
The Avett Brothers – The Lowering (A Sad Day in Greenvilletown) Lyrics | 11 years ago |
This song is beautiful and haunting. Something about the melody just hits me... I agree that this sounds like a song about suicide. I wonder what the story is behind it. |
K'naan – Til We Get There Lyrics | 12 years ago |
So...there are a lot of things I hear differently from what's posted above: "...the streets of Modesho." That is how he pronounces it, but he's saying Mogadishu (capital of Somalia) "To who I wrong..." should be "To who I've wronged..." "To make songs of struggle and to habits" should be "To make songs of struggle into habits" "Old rivaling's is throwin' up they sets again" should be "Old rivalries is throwin' up they sets again" |
The Avett Brothers – Pretty Girl from Raleigh Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Yeah...I can relate to this song. These are the words I guess I'm too nice to say, but that I'm thinking in my head. It don't hurt when you're just killin time. I was killin time and I think that you knew. Truth! |
Dead Prez – Turn Off The Radio Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Kowalski is right, the title of the song is Radio Freq. In addition to being about overplaying music, and disagreeing with the commercialism of music, I think DP's saying more. They're saying that if you rap about shit that's real, you don't get played on the air, and radio stations, labels, etc. are feeding us a false image of how we should live. It's not all about "party and dancin," and putting that shit in our faces 24/7 is just distracting people from the real issues that matter. Bangin' for the people! |
Old Crow Medicine Show – Take 'Em Away Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Your ? in the third verse should read: Every year I just keep gettin deeper in debt I like how the British spelling of plow is used...seems to fit the song well. |
Old Crow Medicine Show – Down Home Girl Lyrics | 12 years ago |
This song cracks me up...sung to the wrong woman it'd be an insult, but to others a compliment. |
Old Crow Medicine Show – Down Home Girl Lyrics | 12 years ago |
This song cracks me up...sung to the wrong woman it'd be an insult, but to others a compliment. |
Old Crow Medicine Show – Bobcat Tracks Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I think he says "Bitin'" instead of "Battin'" That's why he asks the horse what his deal is, since his hands are being bitten. Anyway...love this song - it's funny and makes me smile. |
Old Crow Medicine Show – Alabama High-Test Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Great song, accurate lyrics... love it! It's about weed, for sure. I'm not sure about Alabama, but if they're on I-65 Southbound, and then they're on a dirt road in TN, then they came from Kentucky. It's our number one cash crop, unofficially of course. |
Immortal Technique – Fight Until the End (feat. Sabac Red) Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Great song...quite relevant now. Anybody see videos of Oakland a couple of days ago? A few corrections to the lyrics: "Fight depression and pull de pressure" should read "Fight oppression and put de pressure" We should put pressure on the system, and we're being oppressed by the system. "Tired of being patient waitin for internal affairs to show. Improve this, the truth is, we've been burnin for years." should read "Tired of being patient waitin for internal affairs to show improvements. The truth is we've been burnin for years." "They told him there's agress, if he doesn't stay calm" should read "They told him there's regrets..." I don't think agress is a word, hehe. |
Dead Prez – Sharp Shooters Lyrics | 12 years ago |
A jake is a cop. Correction: "fuck a wave journer" should be "fuck a wage earner." Great song...makes me wanna bash some heads! |
Gillian Welch – Make Me A Pallet On Your Floor Lyrics | 12 years ago |
This is a great song...I first heard it while roaming around the country a while back. To me this song sounds a lot like someone who is unemployed and looking for work all over, but maybe that's just my personal experiences coming through. A note/hunch regarding the second verse: I'm interpreting the "dime" not as money, but a dime bag of pot. Sounds like some "good-time friends" I've known. |
The Felice Brothers – Frankie's Gun Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Yeah, before the show I had only heard the CD version of "mama." |
Immortal Technique – Leaving The Past Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I like your much-more-correct version, with a couple of edits. They're small compared to the corrections you made to the original up top, but they stood out to me: - nurishment should be nourishment - paralygic should be paraplegic - "Just like a desperate motherfucker..." should have the word "are" before it - J. Edgar Hoover is the name you're lookin for, not Jay |
Immortal Technique – One (Remix) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Great song...a good wrap-up to the album for sure. One correction: "The red don communist threat, buried and gone" Should be "Red Dawn" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Dawn) |
Immortal Technique – Harlem Streets Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Correction: "Bowling For Columbine fare giving the media power" |
Old Crow Medicine Show – Trouble That I'm In Lyrics | 14 years ago |
This is a fun song...But I disagree about the line referring to Louisville as a rich folks' town. Heh...I live in Louisville and I'm definitely not rich! :p |
Old Crow Medicine Show – Evening Sun Lyrics | 14 years ago |
This song is pretty cool...makes me wanna become a drifter. Think I'll go catch an empty car. I believe the line "And I feel just like that hipster" should be "And I feel just like that rooster." That fits more with his descriptions of the animals' sounds... |
Old Crow Medicine Show – Caroline Lyrics | 14 years ago |
On Tennessee Pusher, the second verse is a bit different than what's listed above. Also, the last verse up above is not included on that CD. Here's how the second half of the song is on TP: We were the gas house gang I'll be Ozzie Smith, you'll be Sarah my wife Til' we got traded away To the Red Clay league somewhere along the Georgia line You be the pitcher and the catcher too I'm the home run king 'fore his muscles grew Gonna knock the cover off this time. Oh Caroline (Round) Caroline Oh Caroline (Round) Caroline Oh Caroline (Round) Caroline (can't remember how many times this repeats...) |
Mary Chapin Carpenter – Houston Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Speaking of Katrina, of course. One small correction: "Never seen the President, maybe he will lead us there," should be "Never seen the President, maybe he will MEET us there." Good song. |
The Felice Brothers – Frankie's Gun Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I found it interesting that when I saw these guys live (for the second time) they changed the line: "You see my mama/Please tell her/I left a little rock in a box in the cellar." The show was a live radio hour here in Louisville, KY, and instead they sang, "You see my BABY/Please tell her..." Which makes more sense to me. I would see giving a sweetheart a ring to wear forever as more likely than giving one to your mother... |
The Felice Brothers – Take This Bread Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I agree with both of your comments/corrections. |
The Felice Brothers – The Country Is Gone Lyrics | 14 years ago |
This song makes me kind of sad...reminds me of old times that are gone. |
Old Crow Medicine Show – Methamphetamine Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I think they he may be saying "Where the river flows with a dusty coal disease," meaning black lung... Any thoughts? It fits with the other coal references later in the song. |
Old Crow Medicine Show – Tennessee Pusher Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I think that he made a thousand dollars prostituting someone out to law enforcement... He made the money, but couldn't believe just what he saw. |
Old Crow Medicine Show – Humdinger Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Yee-haw! Sounds like a good time. Looks like there's an issue with the formatting...it doesn't like your apostrophes. |
Old Crow Medicine Show – The Greatest Hustler of All Lyrics | 14 years ago |
This song is great. I think I've met this woman he's singing about... |
Dead Prez – Walk Like A Warrior Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Possible corrections: "The white man got the wealth he held back" - He definitely says "we" instead of "he" in that line. It should look something like, "The white man got the wealth, we held back." "You might prefer it from a car mic" - The "car mic" doesn't sound right...not sure what else it could be though. What does that mean, a car mic? "And keep blessin the heat, and that there crooked officer" should be "And keep blessin your heat, aim it at the crooked officer." Spelling: "Muder mo come, come, they done" - Murder. Sorry to be so picky... |
The Felice Brothers – Goddamn You, Jim Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Much agreed. |
The Felice Brothers – Don't Wake The Scarecrow Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This is a good song, although a bit sad... |
The Felice Brothers – Christmas Song Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I wonder, was this a song written by Christmas? |
The Felice Brothers – Hey Hey Revolver Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song sounds kind of suicidal to me. He's reflecting on his life, while sitting with a revolver. Any thoughts? |
The Felice Brothers – Got What I Need Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Corrections - "somehow running's done" should be "So my running's done." Also, "they say a world in love" should be "They say the world of love." |
The Felice Brothers – Rockefeller Druglaw Blues Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I originally thought that it said, "Twenty needle marks on the arms of guards." That makes more sense to me. But I think you're right that it's God. It does say "on," rather than "in," but that's pretty minor. |
The Felice Brothers – Ballad of Lou the Welterweight Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Correction - "He hit Louie kind of low and he fumbled on the ropes" |
