I believe that the song is a reference to those are meant and bound to worldy things and is an allusion directly of those people.
"This world's gonna make you a part of it", is in reference to that when you die eventually you become dust and a part of the soil.
"This world's gonna leave you out", this is the main point. He's in reference to what is truly human. The world he's referring to is the Ethereal, and that the mind of the person/people are wasted. They'll die, and the only existence left is the dirt.
Never let your body feel, how your mind could leave it"- reinforcing the last statement. The actions carried out are negligence of the soul.
4th stanza is a parody of meeting a person and contemplating throwing them out the window, seeing as to the narrarator believes that their existence is being wasted. To lock them up, or throw them out the window. "if you were meant for the wealth of applause...etc." It's believed that, that meaning is a waste of life, and would disregard bodies of such by throwing them out the window. |

I think this song is a combination of a few things, the first part seems like a criticism of the media, saying that the media has mastered out thoughts and control our perception of reality. The chorus looks to me like a question of religious influence. the third verse is questioning the larger picture and how all these things tie into our instinctual behaviors. The bridge before the last chorus seems to like an attempt to criticize religion, "we want to believe that were intelligently designed. Which seems different because Hopesfall is a very christian influenced band. |

To me this song is about a woman, and before you write me off with the generalized song about a girl let me explain. The line;
"I wanna lay on the tracks,
feel hot steel screaming at me,
expose the bones on my back,
let me show you what I mean, etc."
Is about how he is turning and showing the girl (emotionally, but lets not rule out possibly physically as well) his back, so that she is aware that he is completely open to her, if she wanted to, she could very easily "Knife him in the back", and he would be completely content with that. So long as it's her that kills him.
"My lungs will take you for granted".
Seems to be what the whole song is about to me. Knowing that no matter what he could physically do will never equal up to the love that he wants her to share with him, he offers his back, his life, his trust, in exchange for it. |

I agree with this response, I think everyone here is overthinking the message of the song. Every soldier has some contempt for the civilians it serves, and the fact that th Soldier gives his life and his considered subordinate to civilians of the country it's sworn to protect frustrates me as well.
